HOME LEARNING CLUB Home Learning Club meets on a Friday after school at the Townsend Community Centre and it is for children from Jewell Academy. There are eight of us in the team and although we have different roles during the afternoon our aim is always to help the children have a good time. We are blessed in this country that every child has access to education but there are times a little extra help and support goes a long way. During a typical afternoon we will sit with the children and their parents working through a maths question, reading a book or researching a topic on the iPad as well as eating toast and biscuits and drinking squash. It’s a special time of sharing in the lives of others in our community. Recently a few new families have joined us and it’s been great to get to know some more children. There’s a lot of appreciation of our time and effort and I think everyone on the team has enjoyed the opportunity to work with some very lovely children and encourage them to achieve their best, it has been super to see the progress of many who have attended regularly for the three years we have been running the club. Jesus said “Let the little children come to me”. Knowing that God loves these children makes us want to love them too and we can do that by supporting them with their homework and sharing our lives with them. It’s a great ministry and personally I love being involved in it. Rachel Smith | HLC Ministry Leader
