The mission of the Academies of Loudoun is to empower students to explore, research, collaborate, innovate, and to make meaningful contributions to the world in the fields of science, technology, engineering and mathematics. • Academy of Engineering & Technology (AET) • Academy of Science (AOS) • Monroe Advanced Technical Academy (MATA) The Academies of Loudoun will open in SY 2018-2019
• All Academy students are concurrently enrolled as full-time students in Loudoun County Public Schools, attending their Academy courses and their home high school courses on alternating days • Transportation is provided by LCPS to the Academies of Loudoun General • Students admitted to Advanced AET or MATA will be Information required to work very closely with home HS counselors and AOL counselors to schedule remaining graduation requirements for their home school schedule, this might include making use of Virtual Loudoun options

The mission of the Academy of Engineering & Technology (AET) is to provide academic STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) pathways for students to engage in the study of • Engineering Academy of • Entrepreneurship • Information Technology Engineering & Students at the AET will develop their creative and enterprising Technology capacities, engage in engineering and research, and have the (Advanced AET) opportunity to pursue a rich, well-rounded high school experience. Advanced AET is a 2-year program commitment (11th & 12th grade).
Immersion in STEM curriculum that challenges students to: Academy of • think critically Engineering & • innovate • research Technology • design • and invent to solve real-world, contextual problems Student STEM curriculum that requires all students to complete Goals/Outcomes research and/or engineering capstone projects
When applying, applicants will select ONE of the following (AET Entrepreneurship is only offered in the AET 4-year program): AET Engineering Designed for students who wish to engage in an intensive study of engineering, including the engineering design process. All AET Advanced Engineering students will be required to complete multiple engineering projects while attending the AET. AET Pathways AET Information Technology (IT) Designed for students who wish to engage in an intensive study of computer science and information technologies. All AET IT students will be required to design, develop and conduct multiple research projects while attending the AET.

AET AP and dual enrollment courses are weighted at 1.0
• Successful completion of Math Analysis by the end of 10th grade (students who plan to take Math Analysis in summer school after 10th grade or through Virtual Loudoun-Term 3 cannot be considered) • Successful completion of 2 science credits by the end of 10th grade (we recommend Research Earth Science and/or Research Biology and/or Research Chemistry) • Student in good standing, passed all courses, review of academic Advanced record AET • PSAT scores* • Writing Prompt scores Admissions • Interest Statement scores Criteria • AET pathway choice *Applicants without a PSAT score report may submit an SAT or an ACT score report as a substitute. No other math assessment scores will be accepted. Students are responsible for scheduling an SAT or ACT and results must be submitted prior to March 8th, 2018.

Loudoun March 17, 2018 - Advanced AET Admissions Assessment (writing Winter prompt and interest statement) Admissions March 17, 2018 - MATA Practical Nursing Admissions Assessment (Test of Essential Academic Skills - TEAS) Timeline April 2018 – Admission offers will be posted in admissions portal April/ May 2018-Students must accept or decline all admissions offers
