t CRC Staffers went to Jug Bay Wetlands Sanctuary in Lothian, MD after the tropical storm and heavy rains of last fall (September 2011). Environment THE CHALLENGE For any new managers, grants are critical to support their work, but that was just the start of what CRC felt a formal training program in environmental management could cover. By developing the effectiveness and resourcefulness of its environmental management team, CRC would be better able to supplement work of its team with the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) in Annapolis. A comprehensive train- ing program covering key areas such as time management, presentation skills, team skills, grant writing and grant management would help CRC staff excel and prepare these new environmental leaders with tools and capacities for leadership roles in future careers. THE SOLUTION Because of past training partner- ships between CRC and Anne Arundel Community College’s (AACC) Center for Workforce Solutions (CSW), CRC’s Melissa Fagan, Environmental Management/Career Development Program Coordinator, met with CSW representatives to evaluate the scope and requirements of the training project.
