The new season of Finding Your Roots could be the most surprising, revelatory, and inspiring one yet. But let’s be honest: we say that every season, and every season it’s true! This time around, episode one sees Henry Louis Gates, Jr., helping actors Julia Roberts and Edward Norton discover their hidden connections to history – and each other. The celebrity lineup includes Carol Burnett, David Duchovny, Cyndi Lauper, Niecy Nash, Danny Trejo, Claire Danes, and more, with new episodes every Tuesday. American Experience: Zora Neale Hurston Tuesday, January 17 at 9pm on WQLN PBS Best known for her novel Their Eyes Were Watching God, Hurston was a key figure of the Harlem Renaissance. Even as a renowned writer, she pursued anthropological studies, becoming Barnard College’s first Black female graduate. She struggled for recognition in two professional worlds, writing novels and collecting folklore, drawing on her scholarship to inform her artistry. This new biography looks at her trailblazing work and how she would honor and celebrate Black life on its own terms — an idea that remains radical today. Life Coach Susan Harf Talks Real Life Sundays at 9am on WQLN PBS It’s a new year and time to think about ways to lead more fulfilling lives. That’s why we’ve added a new program on WQLN PBS. Every Sunday at 9am you can watch Real Life with Susan Harf. This series is hosted by Rose Martin and features Life Coach Susan Harf – who happens to have roots here in Erie.
