The GST revenue for the month of July which stood at over Rs 1.16 lakh crore, 33% higher than the collection in the same month of 2020, indicating that the economy is recovering at a fast pace. GST collections have been steady above Rs. 1 lakh crore mark for eight months (dropped only below Rs. 1 lakh crore in June 2021). In a statement, the ministry has said that the robust GST revenues are likely to continue in the coming months too. # Sentiment are also seen boosted by a $550 billion infrastructure package moving closer to passage in the Senate this week. The street expects the MPC to hold interest rates at 4% but commanding attention would be the commentary on economic growth and inflation trajectory along with measures for most-affected sectors. # India's merchandise exports shot up in July, rising by a major 47.9 percent as compared to July, 2020. Impressively, exports also rose by 34.06 percent as compared to July, 2019, before the pandemic struck. # The U.S Gross domestic product, a measure of all goods and services produced during the April-to-June period, grew 6.5% on an annualized basis, below the forecast of 8.4%. # The Labor Department said that weekly jobless claims fell by 24,000 to 400,000, down from the previous week’s revised estimate of 424,000 claims. # The reign of doves is extended yet again as the policy-setting Federal Open Market Committee (FOMC) signaled that it plans to keep a key U.S. short-term interest rate near zero while projecting the U.S economy has made progress towards the standards it set for starting to slow down its bond-buying program --- but not enough progress to start tapering yet. # The Fed indicated that it will continue buying bonds at the current $120 billion a month pace. Powell stressed again that he expects inflation to eventually pull back closer to the Fed’s 2% annual target. The yield on the benchmark 10-year Treasury was down Monday, falling to 1.214% even as the two-year suspension of the U.S. debt ceiling expired over the weekend, pushing the Treasury to unveil extraordinary funding plans. In the week gone by, the Dow and S&P 500 each declined 0.4 % while the Nasdaq slid 1.1%. All three indices were up for July, with Dow showing a 1.3% monthly gain, the S&P 500 rising 2.3% and the Nasdaq up 1.2% for the month. IPOs and LISTINGS: It will be an action packed week as four firms - Devyani International, Windlas Biotech, Exxaro Tiles and Krsnaa Diagnostics - will launch their IPOs. Krsnaa Diagnostics, one of the fastest-growing diagnostic chains in India, is planning to raise Rs 1,213.33 crore via public offer at THE higher end of the price band of Rs 933-954 per share. Pharma company Windlas Biotech plans to raise Rs 401.54 crore and Exxaro Tiles Rs 161 crore through IPOs next week. They have fixed the price band at Rs 448-460 per share and 118-120 per share respectively. Meanwhile, Glenmark Life Sciences, the subsidiary of Glenmark Pharma, will debut on August 6. The company will finalise IPO share allotment on August 3, while the funds will be refunded to ineligible investors on August 4. Glenmark Life shares are currently trading at a premium of Rs 130-150 in the grey market, data from IPO Watch and IPO Central showed. This equates to a trading price of Rs 850-870 per share, up 18-21 percent over the expected final issue price of Rs 720. RECAP OF PREVIOUS TRADING SESSION: Nifty zoomed higher in yesterday’s session as risk-on stance was again seen spreading from Asia, where the Hong Kong and China CSI 300 indexes were again seen rebound after last week’s drubbing.
