A Message From the Mayor On behalf of Orillia City Council, we would like to congratulate the Kiwanis Music Festival as it marks its 60th anniversary. Certainly a milestone to be very proud of. Over the years, the festival has showcased many wonderful performers and brought a spotlight to Orillia. I would like to acknowledge the event organizers, supporters, volunteers and all of the talented performers, as preparing for the festival certainly takes a lot of practice, preparation and dedication. The Kiwanis Music Festival is a great opportunity to showcase talent from Orillia and surrounding municipalities. Orillia boasts a vibrant downtown with many unique shops and restaurants, a beautiful waterfront, pristine parks and trails, and has a strong arts and culture community. While in Orillia, I encourage you to explore all that we have to offer – from our many shops and restaurants in Downtown Orillia to our beautiful parks and historic sites. Best wishes as you celebrate 60 years of the Kiwanis Music Festival. Sincerely, Steve Clarke Mayor, City of Orillia A Message From the Festival President Wow, 60 years! The Orillia Kiwanis Music Festival (OKMF) has been a fixture of the Orillia and area community for six decades. What a milestone! In some families, three generations of performers have been in the Festival. Perhaps some of our many teachers and volunteers recall their time on stage, and the feedback and encouragement they received from their adjudicator. For six decades the Festival has enjoyed the support of many talented performers, dedicated teachers, proud parents, encouraging adjudicators, generous facility managers and staff, community sponsors, and selfless volunteers. On behalf of the Festival Committee, thank you. Thank you for your time, your hard work and your dedication. This Festival shines because of each and every one of you. As you read through the programme, please note the advertisements from our community sponsors. I encourage you to visit their places of business. The Festival would simply not be possible without their generous support each year. A word of thanks to the dedicated OKMF committee: they work tirelessly to bring you a world-class Festival experience. If you are interested in volunteering as a greeter or session secretary, making a monetary donation, or advertising in next year’s programme, please visit www.orilliakiwanismusicfestival.com, and welcome aboard! Whether you are participating, volunteering, or simply enjoying the show, have a great time, and as always...Viva La Música! Don Haskins President Orillia Kiwanis Music Festival 2018 5
