Listening, Speaking, Reading and Writing Skills are progressively taught in all levels. Layering and deepening as the child progress
How do we now if your child is learning? Skill base Check Points that focus on interactions/use of the language , especially listening and speaking skills for P1 E.g Listening Comprehension, Reading the text aloud, Talk Time
Curricular Activities provide foundation to Focus for enable pupils to have input of the language lower Primary : and emphasize on the (Oral use of the language to Interactions) ensure they attain the skills Speaking and Listening
Learning with Joy Through Harnessing ICT for engaged learning and making learning visible e.g. flipped classroom Learner-centred methodologies, Authentic Learning experiences such as culture experience activities, speech and drama enrichment class
Oracy Theatre Children first learn oral interaction skills and vocabulary in “Oracy Theatre”. Pinyin Castle Children will then learn the Hanyu Pinyin of some of these (only in 1A) vocabulary words in “Pinyin Castle”. Literacy Having learnt the meaning and pronunciation of the words in Playground the first two sections, children will then proceed to learn the form of the Chinese Characters and pick up reading skills in “Literacy Playground”. Real-life Children can extend or consolidate their learning and Application appreciate the value of the Chinese Language through the language activities and tasks.
The Malay curriculum is named “cekap” which is the abbreviation from: C – Cungkil (extract) E – Eksplorasi/Eksplisit/Estetik (exploration/explicit/aesthetic) K – Kandungan/Kecekapan/Komunikasi (content/skills/communication) A – Aktif/Aplikasi/Autentik (active/application/authentic) P – Pengajaran Pembezaan/Penilaian Holistik (differentiated learning/holistic assessment) How to make use of the ML Textbook? • pre-reading - 10 lessons to teach basic reading; - teaching of phonics through letters, syllable, words and sentences; • words are coloured according to its pronunciation to facilitate reading; • words are arranged according to the level of difficulty (from simple to difficult words; from concrete to abstract words); each unit have five subtopics;
