2022 Sustainability Report Miller 2021 Highlights Increased Commitment to Charitable Donations Financial philanthropic investment in community and charitable causse is a critical component of fostering a culture of social responsibility. To honour this commitment, Miller has dedicated a 1.5 % pretax profit as a budget expense line as of 2021. Installation of an Odour Monitoring Management System To enhance Miller’s ability to better monitor and control nuisance emissions in order to maintain our value commitment to the community, Miller has installed a state of the art gaseous odour detection system. This system exceeds any licensing or regulatory requirements. Implementation of an Incident Command System Our priority is the health and safety of our employees, contractors, visitors and community. 2022 Sustainability Report Communicable Disease Prevention Plan Miller has continuously encouraged and supported all initiatives in helping to mitigate COVID-19. During this pandemic we have followed all Public Health guidelines and supported our clients to do the same. We have remained vigilant and have adapted to new strategies over the last two years which have allowed us to continue providing our essential services. The current pandemic has highlighted the need for a communicable disease prevention plan to ensure the health and safety of our workers from communicable diseases. 2022 Sustainability Report Our Operation Waste Material Waste material is any product that is unwanted or unusable after primary use. At this stage there are three options for the waste material. It can be reused, recycled or sent for disposal. Miller’s priority is the pursuit to develop economically viable Reusing and ecologically sound waste processing. 2022 Sustainability Report Emergency Spill Response In 2021 Miller’s team was called out 48 times to assist with emergency spill response. Miller proudly removed approximately 1,000,000 kg of contaminants from the environment using the best practices for active emergency spill response. Miller’s team of highly trained response specialists are on call 24/7 and respond to release events ranging from flammable liquids to corrosive and reactive chemicals. Preventative Cleaning Services Since the beginning of the pandemic Miller has offered our clients professional cleaning services using electrostatic chemical applications that are CDC approved for the disinfection against SARS-CoV-2, the virus that causes COVID-19. Our highly trained personnel are able to respond to COVID 19 impacted companies in order to provide a deeper clean with a heightened response level. 18 19
2022 Sustainability Report Economic Sustainability Miller’s business philosophy is anchored by a commitment to continuous capital investment to promote sustainability. Over the previous five years Miller has invested; • 56% of pre-tax profit in process and capacity improvement. • 18% of pre-tax profit on health, safety and environmental improvement. • 4% investment in R&D. This investment has resulted in doubling of revenue and a 2.25x increase in the 5 year average pre-tax profit. 20 21

Our ability to formulate specific chemistries to treat complex and challenging contaminants in waters, soils, hazardous sludges, and solids differentiates us from our competitors. This ongoing commitment has earned us the reputation of being a technical leader amongst hazardous waste processing facilities in Canada. 2022 Sustainability Report Environmental Footprint Greenhouse Gas Emissions (GHG) Are gases that trap heat in the atmosphere. The significant increase of GHG’s in the atmosphere are causing global warming, that contributes to world wide climate changes. In 2018 Miller teamed up with Climate Smart for training and support with the creation of a greenhouse gas Scope 1: includes direct GHG emissions from (GHG) inventory and reduction plan. As of 2021 Miller has collected and analyzed three years of data on GHG sources that are owned or controlled by the emissions. Reporting years include 2017 (baseline), 2018 and 2019 emissions from scope 1 and scope 2 reporting company or organization parameters. Miller’s partnership with Climate Smart will continue to capture both 2020 and 2021 reporting years. Scope 2: includes indirect GHG emissions from purchased electricity and purchased heat. In addition to tracking and reducing our GHG emissions, it is important to also consider the type of natural resources Miller protects and relies on. 2022 Sustainability Report GHG Reduction Strategies Miller has taken measures to reduce our greenhouse gas emissions through corporate initiatives, capital upgrades and behavioral changes throughout the company. 2022 Sustainability Report Natural Resource Monitoring Miller diligently monitors air quality, surface water, ground water and soil to ensure our operational practices do not negatively impacting the surrounding environment. Odour Monitoring In 2021 Miller invested in a new monitoring management system to continuously track and detect odours and air pollutants found onsite. 2022 Sustainability Report Natural Resources Management In addition to the GHG and Fossil Fuel reduction strategies previously noted, Miller has taken measures to improve our efficiency with natural resources through corporate initiatives, capital upgrades and behavioral changes throughout the company. 2022 Sustainability Report Commitment to Diversity and Development The 2016 Canadian Census shows that 16.7% of Manitoba’s working population (15 years and older) are identified as a visible minority. In comparison, Miller’s overall BIPOC representation is 14.7%, with 22% representation on our senior management team. Miller recognizes that we must remove systemic barriers faced by the BIPOC community. To this end, Miller is a proud member of the Winnipeg chamber CODE (commitment to opportunity diversity and equity) coalition. Historically the waste industry has been a male dominant profession. We are proud to say that as of 2021 women account for 30% of our team members. Further more women represent 33% of our senior management team. 40 41
2022 Sustainability Report Having “Fun” As A Value Having fun is an important part of making a welcoming and collaborative workplace for everyone. Miller encourages this value through events such as our bi-annual employee appreciation celebrations, safety lunches, recognition prizes and service recognition celebration on milestone anniversaries, 5, 10, 15, 20 and 25 years. Promoting teamwork through a positive and collaborate work culture is important to Miller because this type of work cooperation is how businesses grow and achieve their sustainability priorities. 42 43
2022 Sustainability Report Safety As A Life Commitment Tu i t i o n B u r s a r i e s Miller has a long standing belief and commitment to education. To foster this commitment Miller provides Miller actively promotes safe practices outside of the workplace, for example: annual funding through bursaries for any team members children that are attending a post secondary institution. We are excited to announce that we were able to support six student in their aspirations for furthering their Winter Tire Incentive education! The benefits of winter tires include better traction, the resistance of vehicle hydroplaning, superior braking, and snow maneuvering. Keeping in mind the health and safety of the Miller team as well as their families, Miller launched a Winter Tire Incentive Program. 2021 $6,000 Flu Shot Incentive The benefits of receiving a flu shot are critical to minimize the strain on an already overburdened health care 2020 $2,000 system and to help protect yourself and your family from getting the flu. 2022 Sustainability Report Commitment to Community Community Liaison Committee Miller entered into an agreement (January 1996) with the Rural Municipality of Montcalm to ensure that the community remained involved in the development and operation of the facility. The council of the RM selects members of the community to sit on a “Community Liaison Committee” (CLC) which meets regularly with Miller to ensure that the RM remains apprised of activities and operations of the facility. This initiative provides for complete transparency between Miller and our neighbors to address any concerns of having a hazardous waste treatment facility in their community. Vendors Miller is committed to supporting local vendors to help grow and support our local economy. Local business are always given preference when sourcing out contractors, supplies and services. For 2021, 80% of Miller’s vendor spend was local vendors. 48 49
