Keynote BIOS CAM CALKOEN Cam Calkoen dreams of a world where everyone is inspired to embrace their opportunity and our physical being is no barrier to succeeding in our dreams and aspirations. It is dreams that have brought the world to what we see today and our aspirations that will propel it into the future. No one can walk and talk at birth. Some people like Cam, are presented with this likelihood for the rest of their lives. He chose to defy the odds, and now showcases what can be achieved when we identify a challenge, leverage our opportunities and uniqueness, and indeed live for awesome! Born with Cerebral Palsy Cam was told that his biggest challenges would be the way he walks and talks, he dreamed big becoming an athletic gold medalist, highly effective charitable fundraiser, social entrepreneur and now a globally renowned inspirational speaker who ignites a connection and clarity between inspiration, dreams and people. Through strength of human attitude and potential Cam chose to embrace the challenges he was born with, and harnesses his gifts to live in the pursuit of excellence and make life as awesome as it can be. He is a living example that life is what we make it, and the values needed to achieve awesomeness are simple – we need to believe! In doing so, we leave no stone unturned. Through charisma, stories and artistic flair Cam’s presence sees people identify the unturned stones on the path, he ignites, inspires, enlightens and delights others by modeling what it looks like to dream big and achieve more! JO & SUE Jo and Sue are prepared to sit in the muck and dirt of life. Through their own stories of adversity they carry powerful messages of vulnerability, resilience and ownership. As passionate advocates for transformation and change they co-founded ImpACT-Mental Health and are published authors of the popular book HATE MYSELF HATE MY LIFE. Their podcast series ‘Pods with Posh and Pool’ was established to disrupt the theory that everyone has perfect lives. As public speakers they challenge the status quo, leaving no one in doubt as to the power of reprogramming the algorithms of life.

ANTON MATTHEWS First and foremost, Anton is the proud father of three beautiful tamariki and husband of Jess. Born and bread in Ōtautahi but with whakapapa back to Te Rarawa, he links to the far north in Ahipara too. Anton owns and operates Hustle Group, an organisation comprised of Hustle Hospitality which has several local eateries and a handful of food trucks; as well as Hustle Education which delivers workshops, mentoring and coaching in business development, te reo Māori and Māori cultural competency. Hustle Group also maintains strong community ties through their charitable trust, Angitu, which has a particular focus around creating opportunities for rangatahi Māori (youth) to experience success as Māori. Hustle Group is focussed on developing its own people, building intergenerational wealth for future generations, sharing Māori culture and language with the community and only ever saying ‘yes’ to something that works towards making Hustle Group a greater organisation as apposed to just a bigger organisation. CHRIS PONGA I bring a lot of good practical examples focussed on schools to this workshop based on my research and writing about case law and my engineering and health and safety university education, background and experience. I am a copywriter and although I’ve worked in health and safety for years much of my time was spent writing about it. Through my research as a copywriter I touch on what’s happening in schools around the world and I’ve used this knowledge in other workshops I have presented, focussing on safety in schools, safety in technology in schools and safety governance in sports. As a director of a college I sit on the Board of Proprietors and the Board of Trustees. I have been on the boards of charitable organisations including regional sports bodies so I bring insights into student and staff needs both from a practical and governance perspective. Safety in schools Have you ever been privy to a lot of different information and the first port of call for all types of health and safety related issues and questions? Well now you get to ask the questions in this health and safety workshop which will really help you to understand what you have to deal with. And we only talk about the good stuff, nothing gory, that’s a promise. Health and safety is a huge and complex challenge for most schools, but this workshop will break it down into bite sized chunks. You’ll touch on topics like health and safety in EOTC, provider and contractor safety, student and staff safety, mental health and little bit about safety around the property. Please bring along your questions to the workshop, or if you’re shy email your questions to me prior: chris@chrisponga.co.nz.
EMMA RIDDELL “Knowing what you don’t know is more useful than being brilliant”. Emma Riddell is a wife, mother, breast cancer survivor, self- taught, self-confessed geek who probably has a spreadsheet for that! After working 16 years in the Early Childhood industry, five and a half years as the Executive Officer at Riccarton Primary School, and much to her children’s relief, she finally graduated to High School in 2020, at Papanui High School as their Payroll Manager. She is driven to find the best and most efficient way to perform repetitive tasks, saving time and stress levels. Being a hardcore Microsoft user she didn’t even realise that ‘Google’ was a ‘thing’ outside of being a search engine and Gmail, so when she joined the Riccarton Primary Team back in 2016 she embarked on a steep learning curve. Since then she has discovered a plethora of tips and tricks to make the daily grind that much more bearable. Come and join her to find out some practical solutions for: — Life in the cloud: successful collaboration — Gmail: taming your emails — Cyber-security — Google Drive: navigating the do’s and don’ts of sharing — Chrome basics — Avoiding digital clutter — GCal: some neat tricks for calendar events — Chrome extensions and other Add-on’s like Adobe for Google Drive & TRELLO to name a couple. Sorry Microsoft, it was good while it lasted. MAYNARD SCOTT Maynard joined NZSTA in 2021 as part of its Advisory and Support Centre where he was a first point of call for Assistants, Executive Officers and Secretaries who had HR enquiries. He is now a member of the National Employment Team, assisting the Principal Advisor – Employment Practice with employment law and human resource matters including ensuring appointment resources are fit-for-purpose and reviewing NZSTA’s advice around recruitment.
