2022 Nonprofit Fundraising & Marketing Calendar - Gain exposure and help nonprofits around the world stay focused on the metrics that matter ...
Are you looking to target smart nonprofit professionals to…

• Use your software,
• Buy your books,
• Use your services,
• Or attend your conference?

Or maybe you’re looking for a proven lead magnet to engage new subscribers and
legions of fans?

Whatever your goal, there’s no better way to get your message in front of thousands
of engaged nonprofit organizations than the upcoming 2022 Nonprofit Fundraising &
Marketing Calendar.

Since 2014, nonprofit professionals have come to trust the Fundraising & Marketing
Calendar (found at thefundraisingcalendar.com) where they’ll find tips on growing
individual giving, telling their best stories, donor stewardship, online giving, and
more. The Calendar also highlights our sector’s top conferences.

“I always refer to “The Grow Report” for expert advice and guidance. There’s a
lot of differing opinions out there but Pamela’s is the one I trust most.”

Now you can be a part of the Fundraising & Marketing Calendar.

Time and time again, fundraisers have informed us that the Calendar plays a critical
role in their planning throughout the year. Because our 2022 Calendar will be offered
in both online PDF format and print format, your message gains enduring
*multichannel* exposure throughout 2022 in a way that internet marketing does not.

It’s a fun, affordable way to get your services out there (and no travel required).

January’s Attitude of Gratitude Idea
Julie Wickham from Stroud Valleys Project says, “We now send a thank you letter to everyone who renews their ‘Friends’ subscription. We are a small environmental charity
in England. We send them lovely notes with pictures on, taken by one of our volunteers. Here’s a picture we have used a lot. It’s called the smiling frog. He popped up
once we had cleared his pond with our volunteers and he really is smiling, isn’t he?”

February’s Attitude of Gratitude Idea
Kerry Fitzgerald of Pathways for Children knows how to lead with gratitude! She says, “We love our donors by calling them on the telephone (in addition to sending them a
thank you note) to thank them. Larger donors get a phone call from one of our board members ($1,000 and above), CEO or CDO.”

Create your own “rinse and repeat” system!
“I don't take on big things. What I do, pretty much, is make the big
things small and the small things big.”
― Larry David

What’s one of the best ways to raise more money throughout the
year? Believe it or not, the lowly donor newsletter is your ticket to
success. Michelle Sanders Brinson of Nashville Rescue Mission, who
took our class Nonprofit Newsletters | Basics & MoreTM in 2013, raises
over $2 million a year through their print newsletter alone!

Powerful newsletters and powerful appeals have equal revenue-
generating ability. But there’s the secret: powerful. Once you
understand donor-focused copywriting that really pulls, you can
develop your own “rinse and repeat” system!

March’s Attitude of Gratitude Idea
Marissa Johnson from Anderson University writes, “We show our donors they matter by hosting TAG Day at our university. TAG stands for "Thank a Giver" and is a great way
to get students involved. We hang bright orange tags all over items on campus that have been provided by donors, and we encourage students to share a selfie with a
tag and to hashtag the photo with #AUTAGDay. We then reshare these photos on social media (along with posts about the history of some of the items we tag) and we
share the student photos in our newsletter too.”

Launch (and grow) your monthly giving program!
“You don't have to be good to start...you just have to start to be good!”
― Joe Sabah

The 2016 M&R Benchmarks Study revealed that monthly giving accounts for
17% of all online revenue — and monthly giving is growing markedly faster
than one-time giving.

How will you be growing your organization’s monthly giving in 2017?
Sustained giving fosters donor retention and loyalty. If you’re starting out
small, don’t be discouraged! You’ve got to begin somewhere, and the time

April’s Attitude of Gratitude Idea
Emmily Longenecker of Bridge of Hope’s methods of gratitude include: “Thank you calls for every gift that we receive. Visits to get to know our supporters better.
And something new this year...we are giving our Leaders of Hope Society (our givers at the $1000+ range) a 2017 Bridge Calendar! Featuring a local Bridge from 13
of our Bridge of Hope Locations. We had a fun music by the bridge launch party for our calendar where we had an afternoon of music in a local park (also a
featured bridge on our cover).”

How are you making your donors feel?
“People will forget what you said. People will forget what you did. But people
will never forget how you made them feel.”
― Maya Angelou

To always lead with gratitude is a lesson I learned at my Grandma’s knee.
When you keep your donor front and center at all times, and make sure
you’re letting them know how much their support means to your work — not
only with a one time thank you letter, but throughout the year — you’ll find
that your fundraising follows. I’ve seen major gifts happen, without an ask!
Fundraising magic can only happen through gratitude.

 May
May’s Attitude of Gratitude Idea
University fundraiser Gillian Doucet, CFRE, writes, “One of the ways I recently implemented to thank donors was a "Thanking Calendar". It is based on your 12 months
Fundraising and Marketing calendar. I want to ensure donors of all levels feel the love. So, there is something planned each month. Either we send an e-mail with a quick
update on funds being used, such as our Bursary program - i.e. in September we sent out a picture of happy students gathered with a note that said, "41 families are able
to attend our school because of you". And for those who specifically supported capital we sent out an e-mail with a picture of happy students chatting and engaging with
one another using the new space that said, "Thank you for developing our community". Or we send an article through e-mail or mail by a student expressing their gratitude
for the school for one reason or another.”

Are you leaving money on the table?
“You can only perceive real beauty in a person as they get older.”
― Anouk Aimee

It’s time to debunk some myths. How old is the typical donor? The numbers
may surprise you. Donors aged 65 and older comprise the largest slice of the
American charity pie and those under age 35 comprise the smallest slice.

Do you think that bequests are “something only the wealthy do?” Fact: the
majority of bequests are left by middle-class women. So if you haven’t been
actively promoting planned giving, you’re not only leaving money on the
table, but you’re robbing your donors of the opportunity to leave a lasting
legacy!

 June
June’s Attitude of Gratitude Idea
Keep it personal like Claudia Soto-Neira, Director of Marketing and Development for KidWorks Community Development Corporation. She says, “I am originally from
Colombia, South America, and I travel there once or twice per year. Since I’m a coffee lover, I always find out who of my organization’s supporters are coffee lovers too. I
buy a bunch of premium organic Colombian coffee in nice-looking authentic bags, and upon my return I personally deliver them. They love it! It doesn’t cost much, and
my donors feel truly special.”

Making major gift mastery happen!
“Let gratitude be the pillow upon which you kneel to say your nightly prayer.
And let faith be the bridge you build to overcome evil and welcome good.”
― Maya Angelou

Any strong fundraising program has a strong major donor program at its core.
Yet I’m forever hearing: “Funders aren’t interested in us because we don’t
help (a) kitties (b) puppies (c) women (d) children!” It’s almost too easy for
me to trace this back to the most damaging mindset to afflict our sector: a
mentality of lack.

Rather than focusing on lack, zero in on the amazing donors who
make your work possible . Stop thinking the grass is greener somewhere
else and instead, create a focused strategy for every donor in your
database. Chances are, the secret to major gifts is right under your nose!

July’s Attitude of Gratitude Idea
Alice-Anne Harwood Sherrill, Vice President/Chief Development Officer of the Central Connecticut Coast YMCA, recognizes loyalty. She writes: “We are sending

Humanity needs stories, and so does fundraising!
“To hell with facts! We need stories!”
― Ken Kesey

Seth Godin says, "The story's about the donor. Every time someone donates
to a good cause, they're buying a story, a story that’s worth more than the
