Lacy is a great reading buddy who loves to hear a good story and is super friendly with all her student friends. Our third-grade teachers choose 4 lucky students per week to read with Lacy. This special reading time is research proven to increase a student’s words read per minute as well as their reading comprehension. The Madrona boys fought hard and played close games against each before finishing the season 1-2-1. The Madrona girls are crowned TUSD Middle School Girls champions. Students currently enrolled had many comments. “This class gave me the confidence to say I want to be an athletic trainer for a professional sports team,” H.V. said. “I learned about different injuries you can receive,” I.I. said. “It prepared me for sports seasons—how to wrap, tape, ice, and heat properly. Now we are going more in- depth with the human body, with specific body parts like the hip, ankle, knee and shoulder.” “Knowing most of the human body and major muscles and seeing how athletes get injured and being able to treat them is super cool,” I.F. said. “I am very grateful to have this experience, and this class has forever changed my life.” This course provides students with more in-depth, practical, hands-on experiences with the prevention and treatment of sports-related injuries. I’m so proud Dr. Wayne and happy.” Ruby, who is married Diulio and has a daughter, didn’t speak Principal English when she came to the U.S. from China about four years ago. This was a huge barrier for her, but she found help at TAS, enrolling in ESL classes. She was determined to be a role model for her daughter, who attended South High School. As Ruby’s English skills improved, her confidence increased and last July she applied for U.S. citizenship. She soon enrolled in the Citizenship class and studied every day.
