In 2021, DDP is committed to accelerating the recovery of Downtown Detroit by supporting our city’s residents, businesses, artists, restaurants, retailers, frontline workers, and first responders by producing safe, creative, and free activities across our public spaces. The Downtown Detroit Parks + Public spaces are at the forefront of Detroit’s transformation through innovative programming. The vibrant constellation of award-winning and walkable urban parks in the heart of Downtown Detroit are managed, programmed, and operated by The Downtown Detroit Partnership - a nonprofit organization that creates and preserves world-class public spaces. In 2020, DDP received the Downtown Achievement Award of Excellence in Public Space Management from the International Downtown Association (IDA) and in 2021, Campus Martius Park was honored as “Top Public Square” by USA Today. In the heart of the city, Campus Martius Park is Detroit’s Gathering Place for both residents and visitors. This CADILLAC SQUARE famous park was created in 2004 at the site of Detroit’s point of origin, where the vision for the city’s design was originally laid out by Augustus Woodward in 1805. MARTIUS PARK + Campus Martius Park features an urban beach and an expansive lawn that serves as the setting for food festivals and movie nights, to fitness classes and concerts. Motor City Car Crawl will showcase new vehicles from metro Detroit area dealers throughout six downtown parks, including Beacon Park, Cadillac Square, Campus Martius, Capitol Park, Grand Circus Park and Spirit Plaza. CELEBRATING A CENTURY OF HISTORY WITH HOT SAM’S July 10 • 5pm – 7pm The family-owned men’s clothier Hot Sam’s, a popular fashion destination that has been committed to Detroit for decades, proudly celebrates its 100th Anniversary. To commemorate the milestone, Hot Sam’s and the DDP will host Celebrating a Century of History. The event hosted at Campus Martius Park will feature a marketplace, fashion show, and live music performed by one of Detroit’s hottest local bands. 12

BEACON PARK Beacon Park opened in July 2017 and spans 1.2 acres in downtown Detroit. It features stunning light installations, an open lawn space and a contemporary two-story restaurant. The park hosts a program of daily organized activities from musical performances and children’s events, to art installations, local markets and more. Beacon Park serves as a magnet for the community – attracting over 3 million visitors since its opening – spurring new development in surrounding businesses. 15

CIRCUS PARK Grand Circus Park anchors both a growing residential neighborhood and the Downtown Detroit entertainment district. Many of the city’s favorite attractions and venues surround the park, including Comerica Park, The Fox Theatre, Detroit Opera House, Ford Field, Little Caesars Arena and The Fillmore. Recently upgraded, the park has new seating and guest areas, gardens, a beloved dog park for Downtown residents, and two beautiful historic fountains.
