Message from the President Welcome to the 2021 Maryborough Eisteddfod! We are so excited to be able to hold our Eisteddfod again this year, following a uniquely challenging 2020, which unfortunately saw our events unable to run throughout the year. It is wonderful to be welcoming both new and returning competitors this year, and we are thrilled to again be running our full program which includes the artistic disciplines of Vocal & Choral, Speech & Drama, Instrumental, Literary and Dance. Following 2020, this year has also brought unique opportunities, with the Maryborough Eisteddfod proudly hosting the 127th Queensland Eisteddfod for the first time in ten years. The Easter long weekend saw hundreds of hopeful competitors descend on our heritage city from both the Sunshine Coast, Brisbane and central Queensland. The event also proved successful for many of our local talented performers, offering a wonderful opportunity to challenge themselves further against a strong competitor base. In 1903 the Maryborough Eisteddfod commenced with a focus towards giving young performers an opportunity to prepare and deliver various artistic performances, to be then adjudicated and receive feedback. Today, the Maryborough Eisteddfod is proud of our all-inclusive event, which encourages participation from all skill levels and age groups, and includes a wide range of performance genres and styles. Thank you for joining us and supporting the competitors as they perform to you, their audience! We work hard to be able to hold our events at the Brolga Theatre and Convention Centre, which is without doubt on of the most outstanding performance spaces in Queensland. Our Committee, including our Management Committee, is run entirely by volunteers who work hard all year round to make our Maryborough Eisteddfod and its events possible. Our committee continues to grow with new members and we are grateful to be part of such a great eisteddfod! All the very best to our competitors of 2021 as you showcase the result of your hard work and hours of practice leading up until now! I encourage you to listen to and reflect on the comments of the adjudicators. Take on feedback, grow a little more and enjoy your time at the Maryborough Eisteddfod! Yours in Performing Arts, Nick Harry President, Maryborough Eisteddfod Inc. 1
