2021 Flowers and plants available From St. Paul Youth Youth have been planting and transplanting these plants. They want to use the proceeds from this sale to attend faith-building events. There are flowers, herbs, tomatoes and various vegetables available. Tomato varieties are listed at the end. Flower Allysum White. Mounded habit of Alyssum makes it highly suitable for borders and pathways. Flower Begonia, Dragon Wing Red Angelwing begonia. Vigorous and heat tolerant. Has shiny green foliage and red flowers. Part to full shade. Height: 14 – 18 " Spread: 15 - 18" spacing 15 - 18" inches flower Calibrachoa Paradise Island These love of sunlight and have abundant soft blossoms. KaBloom™ Calibrachoa variety. Perfect for baskets and large patio containers. flower Castor beans are a fun tropical looking plant that will grow 5 – 6 feet tall. These have broad leaves with a purple hues and interesting red fruit. Not edible. Flower Coleus Chocolate Covered Cherry Although all coleus varieties perform well in shady locations, some varieties will also tolerate much sunnier conditions. This variety is adaptable to full sun conditions where there is high humidity. Under dryer conditions, partial shade is recommended to prevent leaf scorching. This coleus flowers late, thus the accent is on the foliage. They are well-suited for containers, landscapes and garden accent plants. Color: Rose centers on each leaf are surrounded by deep mahogany, and topped off with thin green margins flower Coleus Chocolate Covered Mint Although all coleus varieties perform well in shady locations, some varieties will also tolerate much sunnier conditions. Flower Geranium, Maverick F1 This uniform flowering series features multiple stems and large blooms. We have Red, white or orange flowering plants. Prefers full sun. Grows 14 – 16 inches tall. We have Red, white or orange flowering plants. Flower Impatience, New Guinea. SunPatiens® Compact Will grow in part to full sun but needs good moisture. Excellent for pots. This is a hybrid selection of New Guinea impatiens that features 2" wide, red blooms and a dense, compact, mounding habit. Flowers freely from late spring to frost. Mature plants can reach up to 2.5' tall and spread to fill a 1.5' area. We have Fire Red or White flower Marigold Hot Pak Mix Heat-tolerant dwarf marigold. Grows 6 – 7 inches tall. Would make a very nice border. Flower Millet, Purple ornamental Can be used as a spike in potted plants or point of interest in flower bed or yard. Color develops deepest in full sun. Flower NuMex Easter 2014 AAS Winner. Ornamental pepper. Loaded with pepper fruits in fun colors. drought, humidity and rain. Grows to only: 6" tall. Flower Pansies or Viola.Flowers are held upright on short sturdy stems, The Delta Premium series is extremely weather tolerant. A wide range of clear and blotched color types gives you a many bright colors. Blooms up to hard freeze. Violas have smaller flowers. Flower Petunia, Prism Sunshine This is an All- America Selections winner. It is a grandiflora petunia and can be stunning as yard planting. Large, beautiful yellow blooms with darker veining flower profusely on healthy, bushy plants. Flower Profusion zinnia have 2-inch blooms on compact cushio-shaped plants that grow 12 -15 inches tall and wide. This mix has orange, red, cherry and wite flowers. They will bloom all season and do not mind the Iowa summer heat. We also offer the profusion zinnia in white. Flower Snapdragon Candy showers Mix F1 This novel series is early blooming under short days. Flowers initiate from the center of the plant and along the stems. Plants develop a mounded yet trailing habit, allowing a medley of color to spill over the edges of containers and hanging baskets. Sell in 4”+ pots, baskets, and single or mixed containers. Color: Formula mix of Deep Purple, Orange, Red, Rose, White, and Yellow. Flower Superbells Coral Sun (Calibrachoa) grows 6-12 in. tall and 1-2 ft. wide, trails up to 2 ft. at maturity Flowers profusely. Needs at least 4 hours of sun -more is better.. Flower Supertunia, Vista Hybrid petunia. These petunias are patented by Proven Winners and extremely vigorous. They have a trailing habit and will trail up to 3 feet by the end of the season. Great for containers and hanging baskets. In the landscape they will mound about 12 – 24 inches. Will bloom continuously until frost without deadheading. Once established are drought tolerant. Part to full sun. Height: 12-24" Spread: 24 - 36" spacing 12 -18 inches We have Bubblegum which is Pink Snowdrift which is white Silverberry (white blooms with a slight blush of lavendar and a deep lavendar center and veining) Flower Supertunia® Supertunia petunias are vigorous with slightly mounded habits that function as both fillers and spillers in containers. They are also excellent landscape plants, best suited to be placed near the front of beds. They have medium to large sized flowers. FANCY, but not fussy. flower Zinnia Profusion 5 Color Mix Highly prolific bloomers produce masses of 2" semi-double flowers on mid-height plants. They perform exceptionally well in both gardens and landscapes, due to their combined tolerance for both cool and hot, humid conditions. In addition, they have excellent disease tolerance. Color: Mixture of apricot, cherry, orange, scarlet and white herb Rosmarinus officinalis. Gtows to an upright 2', shrubby evergreen produces needle-like leaves that are used fresh or dried on poultry, meats and seafood. Take pot indoors over winter for future seasons Herb Basil Sweet Dani A greatly improved aromatic herb, this lemon basil is desirable for both its culinary and decorative uses. The lemon scent is much stronger than other lemon basils, and the plants have an upright, rounded habit, reaching 26" in height at maturity. Sweet Dani can be cut back and trimmed several times with excellent re-growth. Herb Basil Everleaf Genovese Bred for season- long performance and continual harvests, Everleaf Genovese is a well-branched yet tidy plant that performs well in field or container plantings. Plants have intermediate resistance to Downy Mildew and Fusarium, and leaves offer robust flavor that stands up to cooking. herb Basil Purple Ruffles1987 AAS Winner. Deep, violet-purple, ruffled leaves provide a contrast in beds and borders. Adds color and flavor to salads. Herb Cilantro Calypso The special ingredient in salsa. herb Lemongrass (Cymbopogon flexuosus) The famous, tropical lemon-flavored herb of Thai cuisine. It has long, slender, pale green stems that are thick and fleshy. We just love the wonderful flavor this herb adds to soups, curries and stir-fries. We enjoy cooking with it often. This perennial (-- not in Iowa) must be grown in warm weather or inside to keep from freezing. Herb Oregano Vulgare Origanum vulgare. Erect, bushy plant, 8 to 18" plants produce pungent flavored leaves with purple flowers that is often used in Italian and Greek cooking. Herb Thyme Winter a Perennial Thymus vulgaris. Oval, grey-green, aromatic leaves grow on upright, shrubby, 8 to 12" plants. Thyme is used fresh or dried to flavor meats and vegetables. Herb Wild Zaatar Oregano (Origanum syriaca) also referred to as Bible hyssop or holy hyssop. The seed is from Israel for this plant that grows wild in Israel, Jordan and surrounding areas. Doubtless a common herb in Bible times, and still one of the tastiest! It has great flavor that blends hints of oregano, thyme and marjoram. A favorite. vegetable Cantaloupe, Sugar Cube Sugar Cube is a small, personal-sized 2 lb. melon that offers the best disease package that any melon variety has to offer. Although Sugar Cube is small, it's big on taste with its deep orange flesh that has a superb eating quality. The round fruit have medium netting and no sutures, and they hold up well in cold storage after harvest. Vegetable Cauliflower, Amazing If you’ve had trouble growing cauliflower, try this amazing variety. It can be harvested either at the “baby head” size or when fully mature at 10 inches. Brilliant white, self-blanching heads are covered by large abundant wrapper leaves that protect them from sun, heat and cold; easy to grow in the north or south. It keeps well in the field and is heavy bearing, so pick as needed and prepare for a large harvest. It does well in wet, clay soil too! vegetable Cucmber. Straight Eight Slicer/Pickling. Cucumber Straight Eight is an All-American Winner! These perfectly straight cucumbers have sweet, mild flesh. The excellent flavor makes this a super choice for salads or for dipping. If picked small, the cukes are good for pickling, too. Home gardeners keep on growing this old favorite for its large, flavorful fruits. Vegetable Cucumber Sweet Success F1 Burpless with long fruit. Does not require fertilization to produce fruit. Sweet Success, an All America Selections winner, is a 12" long gynoecious type that grows well in the open field or in the greenhouse. When unpollinated, fruit are seedless and grow straight if trellised. Always dark green and smooth, they do fatten up to about a 2-1/4" in diameter. vegetable Eggplant, Classic The hybrid by which all eggplants are measured. Classic eggplant's elongated oval, fruit are the size and shape well known in markets. The glossy, deep purple-black color of Classic vigorous plant supports heavy yields of high quality fruit. Classic is the standard for premium eggplant. Vegetable Pepper Darling F1A very sweet, miniature pepper that measures 1¼”W x 3”L at the crown. Fruits taper to a blunt point and have thin crunchy walls. The vigorous plant produces excellent yields of high quality orange fruit. vegetable Pepper, Early Sunsation A great early pepper, Early Sunsation produces large, smooth fruit that mature from dark green to bright golden-yellow at full maturity. The blocky fruit have thick walls and a sweet taste when allowed to ripen to yellow. Intermediate resistance to BLS adds to the appeal of this early beauty. vegetable Pepper, Giant Marconi This All America Selections winner produces a long tapered fruit that is ideal for the Italian fryer type market. Giant Marconi peppers have a wonderful, sweet taste when it matures to red. The 8" long x 3" wide fruit tapers, and matures earlier than other Marconi types and is great for roasting or grilling. Ripens deep green to red. vegetable Pepper, Jalapeno M An improved thick-walled jalapeno pepper with the same fiery hot pungency, this uniform strain does quite well in northern plantings. The 3-1/2" x 1" tapered, sausage-shaped fruit are smooth and deep green turning red. Heavy yields are produced on upright plants. vegetable Pepper, KpaKpo Shito. vegetable Pepper, Lady Bell or California Wonder. This hybrid pepper has been a consistent performer in the Northeast. The rich green fruit that ripen red have a uniform deep bell shape with 3-4 lobes and medium-thick walls. Lady Bell is prolific, even in cooler weather and is one of the dependable producers of sweet peppers we know. It is popular for pepper plant sales as well as fresh market use. vegetable Pepper, Sweet Banana Pepper A hybrid sweet banana pepper that is vigorous, disease resistant and sets big yields on upright, compact plants. The sweet, tapered fruit ripen from light green to red. Vetetable Cantaloupe, Ambrosia A winner in taste tests. Ambrosia is recognized as one of the best tasting melons for the East. Its 4 to 4- 1/2 lb., round fruit have a tan color with a medium net and non-distinct sutures. Fruit hold stems very well, don't crack and can be picked several days before completely mature and allowed to ripen off the vine without sacrificing quality. Great variety for the home gardener or for packing into pints for market. I 75 Tomato, cherry – Indigo Blue Berries An eye-catching cherry tomato which ripens from amethyst purple to a stunning, almost black, with a brick red bottom. Flavor is great and is an all- around crowd pleaser. I 65 Tomato, cherry – Mexico Midget Old-time, south-of- the-border favorite that continues to prove its value as a salad tomato. Tiny, red, cherry-type fruits weigh down trusses with prolific yields throughout an extended growing season. Round 1/2" fruits explode with irresistible flavor. Very reliable. I 71 Tomato, cherry – Riesentraube Heirloom cherry tomato from Germany produces huge clusters of 20-40 richly flavored fruits. Originating in Germany, this heirloom cherry tomato was grown by the Pennsylvania Dutch (who were in fact German) as early as the 1850s. The variety's name, fittingly enough, translates from the German as "giant bunch of grapes". The compact indeterminate plants produce huge clusters of 20-40 red fruits, 1 1/2 x 1 1/2", with rich, meaty flavor. I 62 Tomato, cherry – SunSugar The ultimate in cherry hybrid tomatoes, this golden-yellow beauty achieves a new level of sugary-sweetness and flavor, superb texture, and a tangy "true tomato" taste. Fruits are a lovely golden- yellow, weigh 1/2 oz., and possess thin skins - remarkable, considering its wonderful crack resistance, even in heavy rains. Heavy early cropper. Very vigorous. Long chains of smooth, dark red, 1 to 1-1/2" fruits are produced on large vigorous plants. Matures nice and early and continues producing until frost. I 69 Tomato, heirloom – Black Krim A most unusual novelty. Fruits are a dark, deep red (almost a shiny black) with heavy green shoulders. Interior is a deep, reddish- green color. Sweet and tasty. Matures extremely early. I 78 Tomato, heirloom – Mule Team Rated highly by independent growers. Saved by generations of gardeners and reintroduced because of its enduring qualities: vigorous fruit set, round, medium-sized, red globes that weigh 8-1/2 oz. and are 2- 1/2 to 3" across, with a sweet, mild flavor. Meaty textured fruits are produced continuously until frost on sturdy plants. I 90- Tomato, Heirloom. Brandywine. Pennsylvania 100 Amish heirloom dating to 1885. Regular leaves and delicious, scarlet-red fruit. I 74 Tomato, paste - Amish Paste A long-time favorite heirloom plum. Large for a sauce tomato, Amish Paste's slightly irregular plum-to strawberry shaped fruits avg. 8- 12 oz. with excellent flavor. These meaty tomatoes are good in salads and great for processing. The thick-walled fruit are great for slicing in salads, dicing for salsa, making sauce or stewed tomatoes. Early, very concentrated sets on determinate plants with a strong disease package. D 75 Tomato, paste - Roma 76 days. Most well-known paste-type tomato. Dozens of 2- to 3-ounce, pear-shaped bright red fruits arise on these determinate plants. Great for pastes and sauces, Roma offers a meaty flavor and very few seeds. I 75 Tomato, table - Better Boy hybrid A spectacular, hybrid midseason variety with plump, juicy, deep red tomatoes that often weigh more than one pound. And once they arrive they just keep on coming! Fruits are extremely flavorful, with flesh that's juicy, yet firm. Heavy foliage protects fruits from sun-scald. A highly adaptable variety that thrives in nearly any climate. Demonstrates excellent disease resistance. D 54 Tomato, table – Bush Early Girl 54 days This "determinate sister" to popular hybrid Early Girl (00240) delivers the same desirable qualities in a compact, patio-sized variety: an extreme earliness and huge yields of firm, meaty, flavorful fruits that are larger than Early Girl - a full 4" in diameter. semi-D 70 Tomato, table - Celebrity 70 days from setting out hybrid transplants. Determinate. An AAS winner and long-time favorite of Park customers, Celebrity is a superior all- around tomato with such fantastic disease resistance you can put away the sprays and soaps for good! These determinate plants are exceptionally strong, bearing masses of smooth, round, bright red tomatoes. Jet Star produces big hybrid yields of large, clean fruit, quite free of cracks and scars, in the second early season. Globe-shaped fruit with bright, attractive color inside and out have a very pleasant flavor. Sturdy, indeterminate vines grow vigorously, producing heavily on stakes or on the ground. Jet Star is a low acid tomato. If you wish to can Jet Star, please add lemon juice. I 75 Tomato, table, Tasty Pink Beefsteak Delicious, dark pink fruits are meaty with a mild, but tasty, classic fresh tomato flavor. Fruits average 16 to 20 ounces but can weigh up to 3 pounds and have thin skins. vigorous plants produce heavy yields. Indeterminate. D 71 Tomato, Yellow table - Carolina Gold Hybrid The hybrid Carolina Gold tomato features a unique golden-yellow colored fruit that is low in acid and uniform ripening. This variety is very adaptable, and its strong, determinate plant produces mostly extra-large and large fruit throughout the season. To maximize yield potential, stake culture is recommended.
