This one was done after I saw a picture very similar in pose of a Native I painted this back in 1981 and it represents a cry for fairness, freedom and right to American screaming at something, and I felt that this painting represented the clamor of not just Aboriginal peoples but scream at the world. As someone who had been extirpated from her own culture at a of everyone who felt subjugated, and needed to scream for equality to the world. Almost 40 years later, some things in young age and having experienced many different cultures, some oppressive, some the world have changed, but there is still a long way to go for humans to cohabit harmoniously among themselves and seemingly democratic, I always felt as I never quite fit anywhere, so I looked for among the biosphere, so I will entitle this “A cry for the world”.

The piece was fashioned Artist: Ashley Mulder using magazine clippings and pen and ink. The inspiration behind the piece was that words can hang overtop of you, like an umbrella, and block out all of the colour and beauty in the world. Day Int’l Day of the World’s Indigenous Peoples International Youth Day Artwork Notes Title: We All Have a Story, 2020 I created this as a project for my UFV GD260 course with the topic “Designing for a Better World” where each student was asked to focus on equity, Artist: Daniela Soto, UFV Student diversity, inclusion and justice, and the designer’s responsibility. The hashtag “#Immigration Matters: Stories Across Canada” is a place to help people to learn more about different cultures and show empathy for immigrants that leave their homes due to safety. I chose to have type in the background with common phrases that people make towards immigrants that can be very hurtful. As a refugee and immigrant myself, it is very important to me to help people learn a little bit more about why our stories are a little bit different.

It was a very cool experience as a team to complete a beautiful piece of art together while also learning about and celebrating Diwali and other cultural events. To create this piece, our team chose a Rangoli design and printed out a large stencil to be placed on the ground. We then took turns pouring different coloured sand into the sections of the design until it was completed. At SUS, EDI means making consistent and intentional efforts to learn and grow. As the elected, unified voice of students, we believe every student should have a voice and many opportunities. We work to create an inclusive environment of which every student feels confident being a part of.
