before we reach the river mouth in Mannheim. Mannheim and Ludwigs-
hafen form the biggest industrial metropolitan area and the most important
transshipment centre in southwest Germany. Navigating along the massive
site of BASF we encounter transport ships from all over Europe. As we pass
the motorway bridge Mannheim – Saarbrücken we approach Worms.
Behind the Nibelungenbridge we land around 01:00 p.m. at the Hagen
statue. You have time for a stroll around Worms until our departure at
