Agenda Tuesday, June 16 Deft research on COVID-19’s impact on 2021 AEP 10:30 - 11:30 am CT Deft Research offers a high level review of findings from its anticipated study: The Impact of COVID-19 on Medicare’s 2021AEP. The study offers timely insights on: • How COVID-19 is impacting seniors’ daily lives • What impact has COVID-19 had on seniors’ view of their current coverage? • The perception seniors have of telehealth visits and the likelihood they’ll continue using this care delivery option once social distancing is no longer encouraged. • When AEP comes, what channels do seniors anticipate they’ll most likely use to shop for new coverage? It’s a unique opportunity to not only pick George’s brain, but also to hear your Alliance colleagues’ smart questions too, and reflect on how regional plans across the country are preparing for an AEP unlike any other. Deft research has extended their preferred client pricing to Alliance members for their highly anticipated COVID-19 study. For more information on how to secure your copy of the Deft Research COVID-19 Study, email kristin.rodriguez@healthplanalliance.org. Tuesday, June 16 A get on the move session! The best retention defense is a 12:40 - 1:40 pm CT good offense No need to stay tethered to your computer: Switch to your phone and earbuds and take a walk—get moving while you listen! If 2020’s taught us one thing, it’s not to take anything for granted. This includes your MA membership. You need a solid game plan for retaining as many members as possible during 2021 AEP. Creating an effective playbook is possible with the right data that tells you exactly who is going to leave, giving you a targeted list to whom to reach out with reengagement campaigns to reinforce value and change their minds. Grab your headphones for this on-the-go session with Welltok to get tips for going on the offense and preventing disenrollment. You’ll get answers to burning questions like: • How has retention changed in the COVID era? • What is the one thing plans need to do to get ahead of member disenrollment? • How can plans minimize the impact of ANOC on retention? (Hint – members don’t want any more surprises!) • What are some specific ways to prove value now using digital engagement tools? BONUS – Implementing these ideas will also help you address the MLR challenges COVID has presented. Speakers: Erica Morgenstein Kaleb Holt, MA Chief Communications Officer Program Manager Welltok SelectHealth John Coleman, MA. MBA Senior Director Medicare Market Solutions Welltok Tuesday, June 16 How PSHPS can get a bigger slice of the MA pie: 1:50 - 2:50 pm CT flanking strategies that play to our strengths Local plans have challenges competing on a scale with the big nationals when it comes to Medicare Advantage. In this session, we explore clever flanking strategies that leverage the competitive advantages unique to local plans. We unpack both strategic and tactical levers available to PSHPs, including direct-to-consumer capabilities that can build trust with consumers, targeting seniors when it counts most, expanding presence within the local group (retiree) market and building a deeper trust with members who will stay longer though the uncertain markets that lay ahead. Wednesday, June 17 Case studies! MA sales in a digital world 10:30 - 11:30 am CT Traditionally, Alliance member health plans have a strong track record of selling quite effectively when across the kitchen table. But in a world reeling from the effects of COVID-19, your digital presence is critical to your success in MA. We explore case studies from Alliance member plans that are tackling the shift to digital distribution head-on. Join us to hear from each organization and to engage in group discussion about your own plan’s strategies and tactics. In this new digital world, Aspire has built a suite of digital tools for their sales representatives that empower enrollment over the telephone or a video call platform. Cyndie O’Brien, Chief Sales Officer with Aspire Health Plan, walks through how they’ve done it with an eye on compliance, efficiency, and ensuring a seamless experience. AvMed has long nurtured their relationship with the local senior market. Their community, Club Aspire, brings their MA population together for movie nights, lecture series, and tours of historical places. Now they’re pivoting these critical offerings to a digital platform, featuring loneliness busters like virtual cooking classes! Learn how they’re staying connected, fighting isolation on behalf of their seniors, and keeping their AEP pipeline strong for the 2021 plan year. But without that familiar anchor, how well is your sales team armed to create real value for your prospective members? Sales teams can’t afford to assume that prospects are aware of our plan’s unique value-add, that our collateral adequately communicate the depth and breadth of that value, that our audience has the desire, knowledge and ability to discern that value’s impact. Wednesday, June 17 Case study from Health Alliance Medical Plans: Transforming the 2:00 - 2:50 pm CT market thru high-value provider partnerships The leadership at Health Alliance Medical Plans believe that they can outperform national competitors by investing in the continued evolution of the health plan’s relationship with consumers and providers. To that end, the plan is actively developing partner models that integrate care and share risk to achieve goals in key areas, including consumer engagement and health care literacy, as well as strategic growth. Health Alliance shares context for this strategy, including governance structure and evolving a go-to-market strategy with provider partners. They also share early results and outline how they are continuing to take the model forward. Thursday, June 18 Omni-channel member engagement and age-in strategies for 11:40 am - 12:40 pm CT Medicare Advantage enrollment With most of the Medicare Advantage (MA) focus on acquiring and attracting new membership, health plans often overlook some of the easiest enrollees: existing commercial members. Having a defined Age-In strategy specific to the members that you know the best has a number of advantages: • Lower cost of acquisition and higher retention rates after acquisition • Risk adjustment information readily available • Continuity of care management programs in place While the member journey for anyone turning 65 consists of certain general milestones, the opportunities for member retention and engagement are numerous. In addition to understanding members’ decision processes as they choose a Medicare plan in which to enroll, health plans need to be ready and able to communicate with them across their entire journeys, offering the right messages at the right time through their preferred channels. An omni-channel communication approach achieves precisely that: meeting members where they are, in accordance with their needs and behaviors, in order to get the most out of those interactions. Speakers: Larry Briski Paul Horner Senior Director Director West Monroe West Monroe Thursday, June 18 A get on the move session! The impact COVID-19 has had on how 12:50 - 1:50 pm CT we care for Medicare Advantage members today and in the future The COVID-19 pandemic shifted the way many consumers access healthcare, and in return introduced them to the benefits of virtual care. While many states have successfully flattened the curve of the pandemic, people over 65 will continue to remain vulnerable as the virus lingers. This older population has grown more comfortable with virtual care and will also remain reliant on it for both urgent and routine care as they continue to be vigilant and stay at home. And with recent regulatory and legislative changes greatly expanding telehealth coverage for Medicare beneficiaries, we see Medicare Advantage plans beginning to think differently about telehealth’s role in acquiring and retaining business. During this discussion, we explore how senior healthcare behaviors have shifted dramatically toward virtual care due to the pandemic, and the impacts this will have on Medicare Advantage plans. Join to learn: • How to differentiate your MA benefit through virtual care • How regulatory changes have expanded access to telehealth for Medicare members • The aspects of virtual care most important to seniors, including behavioral health and primary care visits • What actions you can take to better acquire and retain members using telehealth Speakers: Brendan Miller Kevin Thoresen Sr VP and GM Payer Solutions Health Plan Sales Director Amwell Amwell 17 © 2020 Health Plan Alliance. What do you value most about the Alliance? “The meetings are valuable. The discussion forum is valuable. Maybe what is most valuable is just simply the connections. My team has someone to call that is either experiencing the same challenge or has already figured out a solution to the challenge. We’re able to share our experiences and in an environment where we’re not exchanging notes with a competitor. The Alliance is a unique and tremendous source of information for us.” John Tallent, CEO Medical Associates Health Plans “The biggest benefit of the Alliance is the fact that you’re in a room of your peers who are all experiencing things very similar to you. It really is a place to bounce ideas off of each other and to hear what other plans are doing that you might not have thought about. Today is a great example. I’ve been in this meeting for two hours and I already have a list of ideas 15 things long.” Penny Ransom, Chief Administrative Officer Network Health “We’re a small organization both geographically, as well as in numbers. Over the years that we’ve been a part of the Alliance, we’re able to reach out the Alliance staff and we’re always able to find answers or solutions from other health plans’ experiences. What we experience on a very micro geographical level, the Alliance experiences at a national level and brings that to bear back on our particular situation where we happen to be — in north Georgia.” Mark Mixer, CEO Alliant Health Plans We want to know what you value most.
