"Blind Dave" Heeley OBE
Once again we are honoured to have the incredible Dave Heeley
OBE as the official starter of the Rotary Cathedral to Castle Run
                             this year.

   "Blind Dave" as he is affectionately known, is a man of many
 outstanding achievements, and will also be joining you as a fellow
                  runner in this year's C2C run.

       Just some of Dave’s many achievements include:

   “Toughest Footrace on Earth” – Pictured Team Blind Dave, running
   the six day 156 mile long Marathon des Sables in the Sahara Desert
   across endless sand dunes, rocky jebels and white-hot salt plains,
   carrying what you need to survive on your back.
   Completed seven marathons in seven days on seven continents in
   2008.
   Ran/cycled John O’Groats to Land’s End in 2011 including 10
   marathons in 10 days.
   Escape from Alcatrez in 2016. Considered by many as the toughest
   triathlon in the world.
   Awarded the OBE for services to charitable fund-raising in the
   Queen’s Birthday Honours for 2020.

A man who is not only an incredible ambassador for running, but
also raises hundreds of thousands for charity. In April 2022, he will
be completing the “Escape from Colditz” Run originally planned for
   April 2020 with a target of £75,000 for the Albion Foundation.

The Cathedral to Castle Run is organised
by the four Rotary Clubs of Lichfield and
Tamworth, and is just one of a variety of
community projects and events
organised each year.

Rotary is a worldwide organisation that
works locally – anyone with passion and
enthusiasm who wants to put something
back into their community is welcome to
become a part of what we do.

The organisers from Rotary wish to extend a big thank you to
  all the runners for your fantastic support, particularly given
the challenges faced in the pandemic. Your participation helps
             to make a difference in the community
