Advising Milestones to Success in College Your academic advisor at SLCC will work with you at the following points to plan your journey to graduation and beyond. 1. Getting Ready & Registering You’ll meet your academic advisor at orientation to help you get registered for your first semester. 2. Goal Setting & Degree Planning During your first semester, you will meet with an academic advisor to create an academic plan for completing your degree or certificate. 3. Transfer & Career Planning Your academic advisor will identify resources to research your transfer institution or to work with Career Services in identifying career pathways through internships or job shadowing. 4. Preparing to Graduate You’re almost there! Meet with your academic advisor at 75 percent of your program completion to make sure you’re on track to graduate. 5. Preparing to Work Whether you’re going to work now or after you transfer, your academic advisor will help you plan your transition from SLCC to your next step.
