8. DOG ATTACKS There are currently low numbers of dog attacks reported to Council (see table 8.1 CURRENT SITUATION 2 above). 9.2 SUMMARY Council currently has six dangerous, three menacing and three restricted breed dogs registered. The owners of these animals are aware of their obligations for the keeping of these declared dogs. Corangamite Shire Council - Local Law No.1 General Local Law - 2015 Corangamite Shire Council General Local Law 2015 Local Law No. 1 PART 1 – PRELIMINARY 1. Local Law This General Local Law 2015, Local Law No. 1 is a local law made under Section 111 (1) of the Local Government Act 1989 and Section 42 of the Domestic Animals Act 1994. 2. Objectives The objectives of this Local Law are to provide for: (a) the peace, order and good governance of the municipality; (b) a safe and healthy environment so that the community within the municipality can enjoy a quality of life that meets its expectations; (c) the safe and fair use and enjoyment of public places; (d) the protection and enhancement of the amenity and environment of the municipality; (e) the fair and reasonable use and enjoyment of private land; (f) the protection of assets vested in the Council; and (g) the uniform and fair administration of this Local Law. 3. Commencement This Local Law commences on the day following its making. 4. Revocation of Local Law On the commencement of this Local Law, General Local Law 2009, Local Law No. 1, as made by Council on 19 November 2009, is revoked. 5. Application of Local Law (1) This Local Law applies throughout the municipality. (2) Unless this Local Law is revoked sooner, its operation will cease on the tenth anniversary of its making. 4
