SPORT SPONSORSHIP Sponsorships are used as a means to gain awareness and as an opportunity for a com- pany’s products. In order to maximize a sponsorship investment, a company must associate itself with a property that shares their values and understands their objectives. Motorsport has emerged as the front run- ner in corporate sponsorship investments: companies recognize that Motorsport sponsorships deliver brand loyalty and a growing fan base, an interactive medium to communicate with consumers and the abi- lity to do more than just associate a company with a property; the company in essence be- comes the relevant property. Visitors to the circuit come in an average group of four, 60% by car and 38% by motorcycle, and travel an average of 270km. Satisfaction with their MotoGP experience was high in 2012 with 83% of spectators saying that they would definitely or most probably return the following season, and 10% of visitors were enjoying their first Grand Prix experience at a circuit. Sponsors also received excellent coverage and recognition, with 71% of the public tending to choose a brand because of its association with MotoGP.

MOTOGP MEDIA COVERAGE MotoGP attracts a young audience of ‘faithful’ viewers, with 70% being less than 35 years of age. On average MotoGP viewers have been following the sport for 13 years and this loyalty is a key factor in the appeal of the championship to advertisers, broadcasters and sponsors. An impressive 71% of those who watch MotoGP on television say they would tend to choose a brand because they associate it with MotoGP, an important finding for MotoGP’s commercial partners, and a statistic which has been repeatedly proven at similar levels over several seasons.
