Created by Families with ASD Families with ASD Families with ASD-Autism Support Group Mission Statement: To form a network of families touched by ASD, Autism Spectrum Disorders, for support, education, and to promote awareness and understanding. Welcome to our Families with Autism Spectrum Disorders Yellow Pages. We hope you enjoyed our Second Annual Autism Expo, and plan to attend our 3rd Annual Autism Expo on September 27th, 2008! Families with ASD organized the Autism Expo because we know how hard it can be to find therapist, organizations, service providers that specialize with working with children and adults on the spectrum. We wanted to offer families one location to acquire as much information about these local organizations as possible. The Autism Yellow Pages is a collection of addresses, websites, etc… that Greg and I have collected over the past 10 years when looking for help for our 12 year old son, Luke. We hope that the following will become a usable resource for your family. Families with Autism Spectrum Disorders, Inc. is a 501 ( c) (3) non-profit local public charity. We fully fund Families with ASD, a family-centered Autism support group that meets monthly on the East side of Cincinnati. Everyone is welcome to join our group. We have children as young as 2 years old on the spectrum, and as old as 16 years of age. Adults with autism are also welcome. Our group offers one Saturday a month where you can go and socialize with others who live with Autism 24/7. This group is also for the siblings, Aunts, Uncles, Grandparents, anyone touched by Autism. Joel, our youngest son, now knows he is not alone. He is not the only one that has a brother on the spectrum. Our meetings are very casual. We also have group outings. We go to the Midway Theater in Bethel, OH. Debbie at the Midway understands our children’s needs, and opens the theater just for us. She doesn’t turn the lights all the way down, and the sound system all the way up. Her one theater building is also wheel chair and stroller assessable. Please check out our website at www.familieswithasd.org and click on pictures and you can see for yourself what our meeting look like. Everyone is welcome to come. Our meetings are free. All we ask is that you bring a snack to share. In February of 2007, our members wanted a way to stay connected in between meetings. We started the Families with ASD Yahoo group. It is a fun, free on-line support group. You can download files on Autism, go to hundreds of Autism Links, check out the Calendar with updated Autism Events, share photos of your family or check out the recent ASD gathering, and post messages. You can connect with other families that live with Autism 24/7 all from the convenience of your own home. All you have to do is go to our website and click on the Yahoo icon, or go to the following link: http://groups.yahoo.com/group/FamilieswithASD/ . The best part is it is completely free!! Sincerely, Julia Ann Smith Founder of Families with ASD
