2 I am a figurative artist and educator with a visual arts career spanning over
thirty years. I work in many media and various forms with line and colour and
everyday people being a focus. My work transitions through many narratives
depending on life circumstance. I have been working on a body of work and
project called ‘The Creative Isolation Blog’, helping people get over creative
block during and after isolation.

A resident in the Kimberley for a decade, I painted daily in a cultural exchange
studio environment, sharing Kimberley ochres, plus gold and pearl dust with
local Indigenous artists. There is a certain feeling and attitude that evolves
from living in a place that is wild, natural and untouched, that makes you feel
free-spirited and provides me inner peace and a desire to express through
my art. In my paintings I seek to portray and celebrate the uniqueness of the
Australian north, the spiritual isolation and the texture of the landscape in a
contemporary interpretation.

Woodturning
I am a woodturner and my interest in this craft commenced when I did an
eight week course in 2007. I joined the Gosnells Woodturning Group in
2012. They are a member club of the Woodturners Association of Western
Australia. Since joining I have won many prizes in the Association’s monthly
competitions. I like to turn items which test my abilities and skills and I am
always looking for new challenges. A piece of wood that appears to be
very plain, when turned and finished, can transform into a beautiful piece of
artwork.

Painting - watercolour, acrylic, specialising in portraits
I am an artist based in Bedfordale, and a member of the Armadale Society
of Artists, where I teach weekly watercolour classes at Art House on Hobbs.
I also teach private students and am regularly commissioned to paint animal
and human portraits. I have been creating art as long as I can remember and I
especially love painting animals in watercolour and acrylics. I like working with
texture and colour and have an affinity with nature and wildlife.

We share a passion for glass, for its colour, soul and its glory. Glass has a
willingness to transform in shape and texture that continually amazes us,
and we are in awe of its magnificent kaleidoscopic colours. We have been
creating glass artwork since we were introduced to the medium over 10 years
ago, and we endeavour to capture the ‘quirky’ to create something truly
unique and special. We enjoy incorporating our glass creations with other
mediums including steel and wood. Inspiration for our art comes from our
beautiful surroundings of the WA bush, both flora and fauna.

Colour, texture and pattern are my passion and I love the tactile quality of
textiles. My inspiration often comes from nature. Drawings or photos from
my Roleystone bush environment may begin my creative process, along
with collecting and using many techniques and materials. I enjoy the idea of
making something special from offcuts or found fabrics while reducing waste
going to landfill. My work ranges from framed works, art quilts/wallhangings,
hand printed scarves, bags and purses, cushions, cards and more.
