From the President A Year in Review Dear Friend, Wow, what a year! We have so much to be grateful for because we are so blessed to be living in Florida. It is our privilege for the Florida Family Policy Council to be part of making this state a great place to live, start a business, raise children, and fulfill God’s purpose for your life. Florida is a national leader for medical freedom, protecting children, defending parents’ rights, and expanding education- al choices. Each year God gives us more and more influence and favor among pastors, legislators, judges, and even news reporters. Recently, City & State, a secular news agency, named me as one of the top 100 most politically powerful persons in the state, ranking me as number 68 out of 100. This honor really is not just about me, it is just as much about our hardworking staff, board, and faithful supporters like yourself, all of whom are part of our FFPC family. Our board has charged us with some major goals for 2023 and we are up for the challenge. Very soon you will learn about these goals as we gear up for the greatest expansion in our history. As you look through this annual report, please know that these activities and accomplishments could not be made possible without your faithful support. So please know how much we appreciate you and hope that you will continue to invest in us into the future. Sincerely, John Stemberger State Headquarters www.FLfamily.org Florida_Family_Policy_Council 4853 S. Pro-Life Days Governor DeSantis Speaks at Pro-Life Days in Tallahassee with Abby Johnson More than 200 supporters joined us in Tallahassee for our annual Pro-Life, Pro-Family Days at the Capitol. Our Presi- dent introduced Gov. DeSantis who spoke at the event for the second year in a row. Later in the afternoon event attendees visited the Florida Supreme Court Cham- bers and were addressed by Chief Justice Carlos Muñiz who talked about how the courts work and answered questions. In the evening, Gov. Ron DeSantis and First Lady Casey DeSantis hosted a private showing of the movie Unplanned, for mem- bers of the legislature. The movie is the remarkable true-life story of Abby Johnson, the former Planned Parenthood Director who became a pro-life activist.
Parents Rights in Education Parents’ Rights in Education Bill Receives National Attention and Leads to the Removal of Disney’s Special Privileges Deceptively tagged as the “Don’t Say Gay Bill” by LGBT activists, this ground- breaking bill is now law and protects children from Transgender ideology and from being sexualized at an early age in government-run schools. Because of the Disney Corporation’s insistence to publicly opposing these efforts to protect our chil- dren, they had their special taxing district status removed permanently.
15-Week Life Bill Governor DeSantis holds Pro-Life Rally to Sign Bill Protecting Unborn Children After 15 Weeks All the FFPC Staff was on hand as the Governor’s office organized a remarkable pro-life rally where the pain-capable 15-week bill was signed. Over 300 people attended this event which included pro-life testimonies, bill sponsors, and national pro-life leaders.
Florida Capitol Project Florida Capitol Project: Bringing the Ministers of God’s Church to the Ministers of God’s Government Once again, our own Dr. Kevin Baird, Director of Pastoral Ministries, worked to bring pastors to the Capitol to meet and pray with state legislators. This exciting program is changing the culture of state legislative bodies across the country. More than 57 pastors participated in 2022.
Patriot Academy Patriot Academy: Training the Next Generation of Champions Every year we facilitate this two-and-a-half-day intense leader- ship and Christian worldview training for young people ages 16-24. This mock legislative experience is life-changing and the testi- monies we hear from young people are remarkable. This year 44 students participated.
The Reversal of Roe v. Wade Written Strategy: A Plan of Action to End Abortion In anticipation of the reversal of Roe, our President wrote a one-of-a-kind book- let entitled, “Thinking Clearly After Roe: A Five-Part Strategy Moving Forward.” The booklet has been distributed across the country and was even shown on a CNN news report. Life Wins! Frameable Poster As a gift to the Pro-Life movement everywhere, we designed a frameable poster entitled LIFE WINS! We wanted to honor God and honor those who spent so many years fighting for this remarkable moment in history. Thousands of these posters were sent to our supporters and pro-life leaders across the country. Post Roe, Pro-Life Leadership Summit A week after the Dobbs case overturned Roe vs Wade, we organized a statewide summit in Tallahassee. The summit was attended by 55 leaders included doctors, lawyers, legislators, pregnancy center directors, students, and pastors.
Seth Dillon Dinner Annual Awards Dinner Featured Babylon Bee CEO Seth Dillon and U.S. Senator Marco Rubio This year’s annual policy awards dinner was a unique success. Over 500 support- ers attended and among them were 24 legislators who came and publicly received our First Principles Award. Prayer for First Lady Casey DeSantis FFPC Facebook Post Asking Prayer for Florida First Lady Casey DeSantis Garners Over 7.8 Million Impressions After learning that Casey DeSantis was FACEBOOK ANALYTICS diagnosed with breast cancer, in a staff meeting, we posted a simple meme asking supporters to pray for her. Our Facebook page only has over 30,000 followers. But within weeks, the post skyrocketed and was seen by almost 8 million viewers. This is the most viewed and distributed post we have had on our Facebook page. Thank God, this year the family has announced she is fully recovered and healed.
