2 Hello and welcome to Love Velo. What a year it has been. We’ve grown beyond our wildest dreams over the past 12 months and even netted ourselves a 2018 British Travel Award for “Best activity or sports holiday company”; some- thing we’d never have imagined a year ago. It’s certainly been busy, but one thing’s for certain – I’ll never neglect my passion for cycling. Why? Because I truly believe it gives you the kind of quality time you can’t get anywhere else. If I want time to escape the office and get my creative juices flowing, I ride. If I want to spend quality, phone-free time with my wife and kids, we ride. If I want some alone time to chal- lenge myself, I ride. And if I simply want to spend some time with my mates, we ride. And that’s what we want for you too, which is why we think you’ll love our curated holidays, some of which are new (hello, Taiwan), some of which are old favourites (the lovely Mallorca) but all of which are focussed on giving you the time to do what you want. Our brochure lists our holidays by style of riding. So if you’re looking for some epic roads and climbs, you’re in luck, and if you’re looking for some slowed down riding or family riding, hop to the back pages. There’s also stories from the roads from real Love Velo customers, honest reviews and much more. I sincerely hope our brochure will give you some great inspira- tion and ideas for your next trip but if you have any questions don’t hesitate to give one of our friendly team a call. At least one of us has been to every destination we offer, so will have first hand info. Enjoy the read and happy cycling. Lee Bibring Managing Director
33 British Cycling is passionate about getting more people riding bikes regularly, a passion shared by Love Velo and the partnership is a natural fit . Jamie Obank, COO British Cycling THE STORY Love Velo was born from a deep-rooted belief in the culture of cycling. A culture without boundaries or limitations, one that comes with great opportunity, freedom, well-being, positivity and fun. We began our business adventure by offering sportives and 2010 amateur race holidays but soon found that our cycle-hungry clients were looking for more. They wanted time with friends and families exploring new places in the fresh air. We started offering rides through vineyards in 2011 Europe in 2011 and then extended our cycling holidays throughout the continent. Three years later MD Lee met Andrew and 2014 Ross, and together they relaunched the brand that would go global. To prove our determination to spread the word about the 2017 benefits of cycling holidays, we signed an exclusive deal with British Cycling to become their official travel partner. 2018 Love Velo has continued to grow and is now the fastest growing cycling holiday company in the UK. Welcome to Love Velo. We create champion cycling holidays.

W E H A D F O U R D AY S O F P E R F E C T C YC L I N G My 2018 Love Velo holiday, by Tim Goldsmith As a newbie to cycling, my first cycle trip anywhere was with Love Velo to Ventoux last year. It was an epic experience and it got me hooked. Ventoux and the Gorges de la Nesque are beautiful and just have to be seen. This year we decided we needed to get the gang back together for a spot of autumn training and Mallorca was next on the agenda. After a pub meeting to tie up dates I called Love Velo and within a few days we were all booked, with nothing left to do but look forward to the cycling. Our plane took off from Stansted at the crack of dawn and soon we were in Mallorca, all checked into the hotel, hire bikes ready and in our cycle kit by lunchtime. The airport pickup, hotel, and bike hire had all been arranged by Love Velo and everything went like clockwork. were no excuses, this wasn’t going to be about who had the best bike! Annoyingly my Hiring bikes made the trip so much easier friend Neil still led every ride, even without than taking our own. All we did was send his expensive Canyon and Di2, but we had to over sizes and the bikes were set up with laugh. our names on and ready to roll when we turned up. The shop swapped our pedals We had four days of perfect cycling weather and saddles in minutes and it made things taking on Andratx, Col de Soller and Sa so easy. We all had the same kit – there Calobra. Each day finished with a time trial to the bar for a couple of beers or perhaps a Pina Colada by the sea. It was just outside of the summer season, so the weather was warm but not too hot on the climbs, and the roads were quiet apart from the other cyclists. It was just perfect. I’ll be back in touch with Love Velo soon for an early spring training camp in the Canaries. I’m 50 in March so my treat to myself is to take on Teide, Tourmalet, Alpe D’Huez and Galabier over the year. Yep – I told you I was hooked! Thanks Love Velo.

From Tom Simpson and Lance Armstrong to Chris Froome, all cycling aficionados have a Ventoux memory etched in to their consciousness. Why not come to Provence and climb it for yourself? DAY 1 Check into your hotel in Bedoin. It’s super close to the foot of Ventoux. You can spend your first day checking out the lavender fields, olive groves and vineyards. DAY 2 With our flexible trips, you choose when you ride. We recommend doing Gorges de la Nesque to get warmed up, or discover the Val de Sault. DAY 3 The climb of Ventoux from Bedoin is the most famous, it is split into 3 sections: the first with a gentle gradient of 4.5%, to Saint- Esteve. From there, you’re straight into the forest, with a 10% incline, until you reach Chalet Reynard. The third and final section is the lunar landscape: barren and known for its buffeting winds. Make it past the Tom Simpson memorial and on to the peak and you’ll be able to say, ‘I conquered Ventoux!’ DAY 4 Go home a fully-fledged Ventoux legend.

THE DOLOMITES Ollie Smith Assistant Head of Travel at The Daily Telegraph Keen London cyclists - you know, the kind who wander around in lycra and silly caps - spend an awful lot of time going round in circles. Laps - of Regent’s Park or Richmond Park, more often than not - are a mind-numbingly dull yet inescapable part of the capital’s two-wheeled culture. On a recent Wednesday morning, however, while my cycling buddies were dodging traffic on Regent’s Park’s Outer Circle, I was discovering the most beautiful lap in the world. It’s around 30 miles in length, so just one or two turns should keep you happy. But it offers the chance to circumnavigate a colossal massif of jagged limestone peaks and impossibly green pastures, cross four mountain passes (three of which are higher than 2,000 metres), and tackle almost 100 adrenaline-pumping hairpins – all before lunch. As you’ve no doubt guessed, this gem is not found in south-east England, nor even Britain, but Italy’s Dolomites. It is the Sellaronda, a lap of such spectacular beauty that it’s hard to believe so few of my fellow cyclists have even heard of it, let alone sampled its joys. Many skiers are familiar with it, however. The Sellaronda is a well established part of the winter holiday scene, and in colder months the same route is conquered by thousands of them (with the help of a few lifts, of course). Tourist chiefs, to keep the euros rolling in through summer, have had the bright idea to market the circuit to those who prefer to reach mountain passes using pedal power before they fly down the other side.
