Important Academic Policies

• Get familiar with the Graduate School:
• Academic Honesty Policies
   – http://catalog.uh.edu/content.php?catoid=9&n
     avoid=1866
• Five- and Ten-Year Degree time limits
• Leave of Absence Requests
  – An approved LOA is essentially the college’s
permission to not enroll for a semester or year.
  – Student should self-drop any enrolled courses prior
    to requesting a leave.
                                                          6
Important Academic Policies

• Student self-service enrollment
   – The student is the responsible party for enrolling and
dropping coursework using the online system and/or
completing the appropriate paperwork (found on our forms
     website www.uh.edu/graduate-school/forms).
   – Even if the department tells the student we will complete
an enrollment action on your behalf, it is the student’s
responsibility to monitor their account to ensure the action
     occurs.
   – The same self-service concept applies to finances.
