FACULTY OF ENGINEERING AND THE BUILT ENVIRONMENT
Look around you. No matter where you are, what you will see is the evidence of the activity of Engineering and the
Built Environment professionals. We often take for granted our roads, bridges, buildings, cities, cars, aeroplanes,
fuels, energy, financial systems, media, VR, communications systems, medical devices - but none of these would
be possible without these professionals.

The University prides itself on producing graduates of the highest quality, who reflect the country’s diversity in terms
of race, class, ethnicity, sexual orientation and gender. At Wits we focus on graduating young people who have the
critical and analytical skills required to contribute to developing South Africa’s economy, but also have the practical
know-how and leadership qualities to make them equivalent to the best in the world, and capable of attaining Emergency and Fire Plans during Graduations
leadership positions anywhere they choose.
