So even though there's so many things to do and participate in, everyone is still so down to earth and friendly here. Plus there's a great young professional scene here!

I enjoy mood disorders, suicide prevention, and early psychosis. My family is from Ghana and loves traveling in the US, so I've been able to see different parts of the states. First time Texan now and loving it. • Favorite aspects of living in Dallas: Growing up in a small town, I knew that I wanted to have the experience of doing residency in a large, diverse city. Josh Walther • Undergraduate institution: UT Austin • Medical school: UT Health San Antonio Long School of Medicine • Additional training: MPH, UT School of Public Health • Professional interests: I'm interested in community/public psychiatry, global and refugee mental health, and possibly forensics and correctional psychiatry. I enjoy learning about system design and hope to advocate for improved services to diminish inequities and structural barriers our patients face. • Personal interests: Biking, taking the dog out and listening to audiobooks, hiking/camping, live music, more TV and movies than I care to admit, finding new food spots. • Other important information about me: I tried to couples match but my SO matched to OBGYN in Cincinnati. However, we were able to successfully navigate the transfer process so that she could transfer to UTSW as a PGY2 after the first year. So I'm happy to answer any questions about that process! • Favorite aspects of living in Dallas: I like the location of the med center being close but not too close to downtown, easily navigable public transit, decent food, etc. I leaned toward staying in Texas as my family lives here and I preferred to be within driving distance, and wanted to train in a large city. Laura Yuan (Research Track) • Undergraduate institution: UT Dallas • Medical school: UT Southwestern • Additional training: PhD from UT Southwestern (through MSTP) • Professional interests: I am especially interested in young adults/transitional age patients and find working with families very rewarding. Anna Faubion (C & A Track) • Undergraduate institution: University of Arkansas • Medical school: Washington University in St. Louis • Professional interests: I'm in the fast-track Child and Adolescent Fellowship, and plan to pursue a career in CAP. I'm keeping an open mind re: career goals, but so far I have really enjoyed my time in outpatient psychiatry. I also enjoy daily trips to the gym, Katy trail, or tennis courts after work. When I get a long weekend, I often travel home to see family in Missouri. I find it satisfying to help underserved communities with the respect they deserve. I am hoping to work in rural West Texas (hopefully around my hometown of Abilene) in the future. • Personal interests: I enjoy writing (especially poetry) and playing the piano. There are urban environments in areas like Uptown, Deep Ellum, and Victory park and quieter areas that still have good urban access in areas like Lower Greenville and Oak Lawn.

I truly feel like we are a family and that I have an incredible support system here. Dallas is a relaxed and accessible city. I can walk or run to many places. I enjoy the warm weather and the amount of outdoor spaces and activities. It's extremely dog, pedestrian and bike friendly. There are many different scenes to explore and embrace - art, music, restaurant/bar, sports, outdoor running, biking, water sports, and more. Dallas is pretty and clean. I believe that anyone can fit in here and find their own community outside of UTSW!
