PRESIDENT’S ARTICLE Don Blank, Board President Happy New Year It would be a huge understatement to say that 2020 was a unique year for all of us. We certainly can be proud of how our community responded to all the challenges we faced during the COVID pandemic. Our community includes not only all our landowners but also those that have helped during this time, members of our staff, committees, and Board. Despite everything, we have been able to maintain an almost “normal” day to day operation. I am exceptionally proud of our landowners and staff who met these trying times head on with a resolve that demonstrated the “we are a family” attitude our entire community possesses. For example, our landowner contributions to this year’s Employee Holiday Fund were at a record setting high, allowing our employees a much-needed holiday take home bonus. There is light at the end of the tunnel, but it is not over yet. Please remain vigilant, stay safe and continue to be considerate of the extra effort and stress experienced by our neighbors and employees as well as all our families. We have a lot of work to do this year. Your 2021 Board Executive Committee consists of me, Don Blank as President, Carl Nelson as Vice President, Bob Turner as Treasurer, and Marshall Fletcher as Secretary. The board will hold a workshop to review and develop a plan for the implementation of the Strategic Planning Task Force’s recommendations. To see the Task Force recommendations, Click Here or click the “2020 Strategic Planning Task Force Report” document under Helpful Information in the Document center of the Port Royal Website. Also, in early January we will review Director of Security Rob Wilkinson’s Road Safety Analysis which still needs your input. Look at Rob’s Security report on page 4 for a website link to the report and please send your thoughts to Rob no later than the first week in January. Deciding how to proceed will be difficult so we want as much input as possible. A major project will occur in 2021 as committees and teams work to review and update the Asset Replacement Plan. This is critical to properly prepare for the long-term funding necessary to maintain our community assets and amenities. These are just a few projects for 2021. There are many more, and all will need your help. In January, the Board will establish the various committees and task forces to accomplish our goals. The chairpersons will be looking for landowners to participate, so be on the lookout for eblasts asking for landowner volunteers. This will be your chance to become involved and help shape our community’s future. With all that occurred in 2020 we still survived and progressed. We all look forward to an even more successful 2021. Page 3 Portroyalplantation.net

SECURITY REPORT Rob Wilkinson, Director of Security Swimming Pool Rules The Board of Directors was recently informed by the Association’s attorney that we had to make a change in our Pool Rules to comply with the Fair Housing Act. The Board approved the rule change and used our attorney’s suggested terminology. Current Rule: Any child not wearing a diaper of any kind may use the large pool. Children not toilet trained or any child wearing diapers or a swim-type diaper are permitted only in the small pool. Any accident involving fecal matter causing the large pool to close will result in the representing landowner being fined $150.00 per day the pool is closed. New Rule: Non-toilet trained and incontinent persons must wear swim diapers and a tight-fitting vinyl diaper cover when using the pools. Any accident involving fecal matter causing the pools to close will result in the representing landowner being fined $150.00 per day the pool is closed. Road Safety Analysis In October 2020, the Road Safety Analysis was posted on our website www.portroyalplantation.net. PORT ROYAL HAPPENINGS Port Royal Ladies: PR PB Dink for Deepwell Tournament Port Royal Ladies held their first “PR PB Dink for Deep Well Tournament” to benefit the Deep Well Project. Ten teams of 2 women each raised a total of $1000 from registrations, and four Secret Santas matched those funds with a total of $5,250 going to Deep Well. Yet one more example of how the residents of this incredible community are helping those not as lucky as we are. Nefeli Keebaugh organized the event, but she insists that all of the credit and kudos go to the players, the Secret Santas and Dale Brown, PR tennis and PB pro. Dale was immediately on board with the idea and offered his full support with the court time, organizing the matches and giving a free lesson for the winners. The ladies that participated in the tournament as teams were: Sally Wormley and Jamie Evans, Jackie Darling and Marci Parrick, Karen Simpson and Janet Fleming, Linda Moloney and Marianne Tillman, Jane Allen and Mary Lou Murphy, Joyce Kreis and Anne Garrette, Lisa D’Arienzo and Karen Kennedy, Galina Coe and Patti Soltys, Gail Barbano and Linda Stauffer, Carrie Wilbur and Anita Kerkhof. Even some ladies that were not able to play contributed to this event. The Secret Santas will remain a secret, but their contributions were unequivocally impactful and appreciated. A huge THANK YOU to the Secret Santas for their matching contributions. Great fun was had by all, and the esprit de Coeur was everywhere as spectators cheered and teams unleashed their serves and dinks. The teams played a total of 30 matches with the first place going to none other than team Joyce Kreiss and Ann Garrette. Lisa D’Arienzo and Karen Kennedy took second place, third place was secured by Carrie Wilbur and Anita Kerkof, fourth place belongs to Jane Allen and Mary Lou Murphy and fifth place awarded to team Galina Coe and Patti Soltys. Congratulations to all, and to all a good cheer!
