GREETINGS FROM THE 2019 CHAIRMAN OF THE BOARD 2020 Tori Stødle had a dream - 10 years ago. Often such dreams vanish into nothing. Often enthusiasm and dedication are put on trial and sentenced – not good enough, not sustainable enough, not interesting enough. This dream of hers has lived and prospered – the 10 years jubilee now sees Top of the World International Piano Competition as an arctic diamond - giving pride and joy to the contestants, the judges, and the international piano family. The concept has not changed much – much because it has not been necessary. Our competition is honoured by a great number of applicants – this year only 10% of them ends up as the 24 pianists competing. We are thrilled by the success many of our winners have on the international scene. Our diamond will not change – in spite of new ways of thinking that bring CHAIRMAN OF THE BOARD BERNT JOHAN OTTEM complementary elements into our organization. For the next three years we want to make Tromsø the piano capital of Norway. The winners from all earlier TWIPC competitions will one by one be invited to come back to Tromsø, giving recitals and master classes. Each year we will give Tromsø a monthly concert of very high quality – and letting young people participate in the master classes will be our thank to Tromsø for all the years of warm support.
