Consider a champion level gift of $1,000 or more. Your donation will ensure we are able to meet the growing needs of our clients. The Impact of COVID-19 COVID-19 has impacted our lives in ways we could not have imagined. Many of us have homes where we can shelter in place. The community BBH serves are not only immune compromised, but their housing situation is either unstable or they are living on the streets. They need our help now more than ever to stop the spread of this deadly virus and continue to stay healthy. BBH has answered the call to do their part: • They’ve opened their shelter 24/7 to care for homeless clients; • Limited access to the facility for the last six months (and counting) to ensure patients and clients are safe; • Increased symptom checking protocols for residents, clients, and staff for early detection and controlling the spread of disease; • Purchased additional food, hygiene and cleaning supplies to feed and care for the more than 300 clients who rely on Bailey-Boushay House every day. Bailey-Boushay House provides daily outpatient care and medication management to more than 300 people in our community living with HIV/AIDS, many of whom struggle with mental illness, homelessness, and/or addition. In addition, BBH provides residential specialized nursing care to end-of-life and recuperative care for patients with HIV/AIDS, cancer, amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) and other acute illnesses. WINE AUCTION HIGHLIGHTS WINE AUCTION Wine is what this event is usually all about! We are offering this wine auction on the day of the event, August 27 27. You will be able to bid on these bottles and more then. Leonetti 2016 Cabernet Sauvignon “For the first time this wine contains some fruit from the winery’s Holy Roller Vineyard. The aromas pop, with notes of blackberry bramble, coffee, barrel spice and herb. Rich, ripe fruit flavors follow. There’s a pleasing sense of plumpness to the flavors but also enough acidity and tannin structure to win the race. Best after 2026, with a long life beyond that.” – Sean P. Sullivan, Wine Enthusiast 93 points from Wine Enthusiast Value: $140 Special Thanks: Friends of Virginia Mason 2012 No Girls Tempranillo “This wine stops you in your tracks with its aromas of earth, peat, fire pit, tapenade and coffee. The flavors are outrageously rich, dense and textured, with a lightly tacky feel to the tannins and a hyperextended finish. It’s a knockout.” – Sean P. Sullivan, Wine Enthusiast 95 points from Wine Enthusiast Value: $110 Special Thanks: Jim Young 14
WINE AUCTION HIGHLIGHTS Corliss 2014 Cabernet Sauvignon “Made from 100% Cabernet Sauvignon aged 28 months in French oak, the 2014 Cabernet Sauvignon Columbia Valley is slightly more expensive than the Red Wine blend but certainly delivers. It too is saturated purple in color and offers awesome notes of creme de cassis, graphite, wet stone, and chocolate. With perfectly integrated oak, a rich, full-bodied mouth feel, and high yet ripe tannin, it's a blockbuster Cabernet Sauvignon that's going to benefit from 3–4 years of bottle age and will keep for two decades.” – Jeb Dunnuck 96 points from Jeb Dunnuck Value: $108 Special Thanks: Friends of Virginia Mason DeLille Cellars 2017 Harrison Hill Snipes Mountain Red Blend The delicacy of older vines is on full display in this 2017 Harrison Hill, with subtle earthy aromas of leather and sandalwood, and savory herbal notes of tarragon and cinnamon stick. The wine is bright and dynamic on the palate, with a sophisticated core of fleeting dark berry flavors and exotic spices (green tea, cumin and fennel seed). Restrained in style, and with a promising structure that has earned a well-deserved reputation for rewarding aging, this vintage is nonetheless very compelling and cerebral in its youth. 93 points from Jeb Dunnuck Value: $98 Special Thanks: Meeko Garcia and Andrew Funk 15
WINE AUCTION HIGHLIGHTS Charlemagne 2013 Les Coulmets “The Charlemagne vines in Le Mesnil-sur-Oger are the base of this single-vineyard Chardonnay wine. It is still a little young, but its potential is considerable. Textured, mineral and with a steely edge, this structured wine will take time.” – Roger Voss, Wine Enthusiast 94 points from Wine Enthusiast Value: $108 Special Thanks: Friends of Virginia Mason 16
BAILEY-BOUSHAY HOUSE Bailey-Boushay House is owned and operated by Virginia Mason Medical Center, provides emergency shelter for as many as 50 of its homeless clients as part of Seattle Mayor Jenny Durkan’s initiative to help address the city’s homelessness crisis. What’s truly unique is that people don’t have to plow through red tape to enter. Many of the barriers to entry to other homeless facilities are waived in order to serve the people who are most in need. For more than 30 years, Bailey-Boushay House has been at the forefront of compassion- ate healthcare both locally and nationally, and now has expanded its service to meet the needs of a city in crisis. VIRGINIA MASON Since opening its doors as the first medical group practice in the Pacific Northwest, Virginia Mason remains a force in the innovation of health care delivery. The soul of Virginia Mason is an integrated approach to healing based on the collaboration of providers who are among the most talented and accomplished in health care today. In 2002, Virginia Mason took a pioneering role in advancing patient care by fully implementing a rigorous new management approach: the Virginia Mason Production System (VMPS). VMPS is used to make real and measurable improvements in safety, quality, service, and staff satisfaction. This method identifies and eliminates waste and inefficiency in the numerous processes that are part of any health care experience. By streamlining the repetitive and low-touch aspects of care delivery, staff are freed to spend more time talking with, listening to and treating patients. The success of VMPS is apparent across the medical center every day, and is a testament to our thriving culture of improvement. For helping us in our quest to be the Quality Leader and transform health care, we have many to thank: our team members, for their nimble creativity and total commitment to our patients; our patients, for inspiring us to be the best care- givers we can be; and our friends and donors, whose gifts of time, talent and financial support touch every patient in our care. 17
