UNDERGRADUATE INTERNATIONAL SUMMER SCHOOL ADDITIONAL CREDIT: PERSONAL AND PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT NORWICH BUSINESS SCHOOL SUPPLEMENT: £250 DETAILS If you want to get extra credit this summer and push your academic development even further, this module is for you. You can take our extra 5 UCU/2.5 ECTS credit module alongside any of our 20 UCU/10 ECTS credit modules, but not as a standalone subject. Your extra credit will be included on your official academic transcript and certificate of attendance. Awareness of and reflection on aspects of professional development are vital for a fulfilling career. Throughout this module you’ll explore the reasons behind this and learn how to voice your own opinions on the subject. You’ll also gain new understanding of the term ‘professional development’, how it’s involved in the workplace and why it’s crucial to career progression. The Additional Credit module will be made up of an introductory workshop and academic tutorials, plus a supplementary academic assignment during the programme at UEA. CENTRE FOR JAPANESE STUDIES SUMMER PROGRAMMES THIS IS JAPANESE STUDY If you study at the Centre for Japanese Studies at UEA, you’ll develop a deeper understanding of Japan and its place in the world yesterday, today and tomorrow. We offer two interdisciplinary summer programmes focused around Japanese arts, language and culture. You’ll be taught by leading UEA academics, benefit from inspiring guest lecturers and get hands-on experiences through academic field trips. DETAILS Japan plays a significant role in the contemporary world, but it’s still seen by many as having an unknown and mysterious culture. You’ll explore the latest approaches to Japanese studies and focus on discussions involving leading researchers and experts in the field. Throughout this undergraduate-level programme, you’ll have the opportunity to visit the world-renowned Lisa Sainsbury Library for Japanese Arts at the Sainsbury Institute for the Study of Japanese Arts and Cultures. You’ll gain a greater knowledge and passion for Japan’s history and culture, and its future in our global society. You’ll also hear from guest lecturers and take part in workshops and field trips to enhance your class discussions. CENTRE FOR JAPANESE ISHIBASHI STUDIES, INTERDISCIPLINARY INSTITUTE FOR THE HUMANITIES FOUNDATION PROGRAMME DATES: SUMMER 25 JULY – 15 AUGUST 2020 FIELD TRIPS MAY INCLUDE: FELLOWSHIP Field trips in weeks one and three may include the Fitzwilliam Museum (Cambridge) and University of Cambridge. DETAILS The Centre for Japanese Studies invites applications to join our intensive three-week advanced undergraduate level fellowship in Japanese Arts and Cultural Heritage. You’ll spend week two of the programme living and learning in London, visiting museums with significant Japanese art collections such as the British Museum (London) and the Victoria and Albert Museum (London). You’ll also be able to do your own research at the world-renowned Lisa Sainsbury Library, in Norwich. With the support of the Ishibashi Foundation, we offer full bursaries to all successful applicants. We accept, and strongly encourage, applications from current students, recent graduates and postgraduate students from all nationalities, with a proven interest in the field. Classes will take place on UEA campus, home to the renowned Sainsbury Centre, and at the Sainsbury Institute for the Study of Japanese Arts and Cultures in Norwich.
