Our Production As arguably the first benchmark fantasy movie, “The Wizard of Oz” stirs the imagination as it transports us to a color-filled world of exotic places and memorable characters. It sports the venerable struggle of good ver- sus evil using the thematic thread of the triumph of the small and weak over the cruel and powerful. Pick any story in fantasy or science fiction and you are bound to find the seeds of “The Wizard of Oz” scattered on its pages. In our story, a Kansas farm girl living during the Great Depression search- es for a place where there is no trouble because life seems filled with problems. In her dream, Dorothy finds a place over the rainbow, but sur- prisingly trouble continues to dog her steps. Dorothy learns on her in- credible journey that family and friends bring the hope and love needed to overcome difficulty. Ironically, it is not the defeat of the Wicked Witch that is the ultimate triumph of “The Wizard of Oz,” rather it is the discov- ery that contentment and love rest in the statement -- “There is no place like home.” I wish to thank those who have invested many days and nights in our journey to bring this musical to the stage: Doug Johnson, Jayce Everling, Jen Billmeier, and Hannah Williams. Thank you Dr. Julie and KCS staff for all your support. For those many friends who joined us along the way and applied their talents of singing, dancing, acting, sewing, artistry, con- struction, promotion, technology, hair and make-up, planning and hospi- tality, I say, “Every good gift comes from God.” You are “gifts” who formed the hardworking team to shape this musical. Kids and parents, you have been a blessing! Thank you especially to my wife Becky who traveled with me on this amazing journey to Oz. To God be the glory, Craig Tenaglia Director of “The Wizard of Oz, Young Performers’ Edition”
Biblical Themes for our Show “’Love the Lord your God with all your heart (Tin Man) and with all your soul (Dorothy) and with all your mind (Scarecrow) and with all your strength.’ (Lion) ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’” (Dorothy and her friends) from Mark 12:30-31 (NIV) and “The Wizard of Oz” “Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own under- standing; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight.” Proverbs 3:5-6 (NIV) “What the wicked dread will overtake them; what the righteous desire will be granted.” Proverbs 10:24 (NIV) “Be sure of this: The wicked will not go unpunished, but those who are righteous will go free.” Proverbs 11:21 (NIV)

Pizza and a movie are a great combination for a fun evening in his opinion. His favorite verse is John 3:16. WILLIAM SOPKO is a 7th grader and is our Student Video Controller. In his free time he likes to make videos for his YouTube channel. If he could choose a role to play in a musical it would have to be Shrek, he is just so funny! ZEKE WILLIAMS is our Student Lighting Controller. He is a 7th grader participating in his 3rd show at Kingsway. His fa- vorite food is a taco crunch wrap, it is delicious! He also likes to play video games or cards with his family.

Thank you to the following organizations for their support: • Flying By Troy for the professional stage flying equipment and training. • Covenant Christian High School for the use of some of their props and costumes. • Kingsway Christian Church for the set pieces, use of the facility, and the technical help. • Northview Christian Church for the use of set pieces, props, costumes, and allowing Craig to work on a flexible schedule to help with the show.
Special Thanks To the teachers and administrators at Kingsway Christian School for your support of our theatre program with all your volunteer hours, encourage- ment, and true love for our Fine Arts Department. To the theatre team parents who transported kids to and from rehearsals and those who took the time out of their busy schedules to help paint props, vacuum carpets, style hair, sew costumes, and a million other things. The show would not go on without you. To Brooke Shroll, Krista Shields, Rachel Williams, and Rachel Ardeel who directed KCS theatre in the past and built the legs this program stands on today. Your dedication, hard work, and love for what you do has reached the hearts and minds of so many. We will never fully know the impact you have had, and we are grateful to your faithfulness to let God do a good work through you. June 14-18 : July 5-9 : July 19-23
