 by Caitlin MacQueen
What's up Solebury scholars! Here's your seasonal dose of advice from your
friendly neighborhood lady in boots. In this edition, I'm going to be giving you
tips on college, things to do around campus, studying, and socializing. You'll
also be able to find delicious fall recipes throughout the pages of this issue!

 Questions Submitted to the Column:
1.Do colleges like concentrations?
 A. Yes! Concentrations such as Global Education and Social Justice will
definitely add to your applications. However, if you do choose to do one
take it seriously! Otherwise, it looks like it's just for show and colleges will
 see that.
2. How do you properly juggle homework and interests outside of
school?
 A. Make and keep to schedules for yourself! If you schedule time for all of
your needs and not just the academic school day then you won't feel as
overwhelmed or like you're missing out. You'll be able to see the balance
between your work and social times.
3. How do you tie an untieable knot?
 A. I don’t know, ask google.

 School Tips:
1. Make a schedule for yourself!! It'll make so many things easier such as
getting more sleep, getting homework done on time, having more social
time, and an easier school life overall.
2. Make yourself drink at LEAST 1 glass of water in the morning! This helps
with so many things like your skincare, being energized, and feeling ready
 to take on the day.

 Social Tips:
1. Attend social events! Dances, games, socials, and more!
2. Be active in group chats, engage in conversations with new people!
3. Go apple picking! Then use them for the amazing recipes you'll find on the
following pages! (plus who doesn't love a good apple pie)
4. Host a family movie night or a Netflix party with those further away
 Stay safe!
5. Knit a hat or new scarf with your friends!

Autumn Remembrance
 by Anonymous
It’s that time of year when I feel warm and comfortable knowing that I will be spending more time
with family and friends as the holiday season approaches. I think about the good times my family and
I had over the summer, the warm summer days filled with laughter and fun. The cheerful spirit of
summer flowing through our days is now to be filled with the smell of pumpkin spice and the crisp
autumn breeze. Now, the smell in the air and the pleasant morning air remind me of the importance
of autumn. The pile of dried leaves and tree stumps spread a warm earthy scent in every step I take.
The crunching of leaves and snapping of twigs, a constant reminder that autumn is here.

During the cool, breezy evenings I fill my time reading books and talking to my family in front of a
blazing, warm fireplace. The house is filled with the warmth of family bonding, love, and laughter.
This is also a time of endless cups of hot cocoa and old classic movies such as Roman Holiday. I love to
go to the nearby farms and get apple cider and doughnuts to share with my friends. These treats are
the source of many joyful evenings at the local park. I like to take advantage of the warm atmosphere
of autumn best. When everyone is inside at home and school, bonds are more easily formed and
 memories more easily created.

The color of the leaves always reminds me of nature's kaleidoscope with a colorful array of yellows,
reds, and oranges. They are like nature's indicator that a new life and year will be arriving. The leaves
create an amber hue that fills the streets and adds to the spirit of autumn. I love to go for bike rides in
the evening, where I can see these marvelous displays of colors. When the sunlight permeates
through the crimson-colored leaves, it gives them a stained glass appearance making them look
heavenly. I feel so happy looking at these leaves, that I end up spending several hours admiring their
 beauty.

I hope that this season will bring happiness, warmth, and love to all the families of the world. I hope
that everybody goes to sleep at night knowing that a new season has started, a season which will
mesmerize everyone with its splendid color, picturesque landscapes, and hearty ambiance.
