DURHAM ADVENTURE FESTIVAL 2019 PROGRAMME 26 – 28 APRIL 2019 IN PARTNERSHIP WITH KENDAL MOUNTAIN FESTIVAL
WELCOME TO DURHAM ADVENTURE FESTIVAL CONTENTS Introduction The Programme 02 – 03 04 – 05 Events Friday 06 – 07 When we started planning the very first Durham Adventure Festival, our aim was to build an event which Events Saturday 08 – 10 celebrated everything about the great outdoors. We Events Sunday 12 – 13 had aspirations for the festival to be fun and inspiring, Films where people could share their experiences and love for Family Adventure 14 – 15 adventure. Collection A: The thing that pleased us most, was that while many Bike & Snow 16 – 17 visitors came to see the headline speakers, many also took a chance on speakers they had never heard of. Collection B: Others came to pick up tips from the professionals about Climb & Mountaineering 18 – 19 how to begin their first adventure, while some were just Collection C: intrigued by the climbing wall outside the theatre, and Adventure & Exploration 20 – 21 came in to find out more. But everyone who came, left Collection D: inspired and uplifted by what they saw. Run 22 – 23 It was this spirit of openness and adventurousness which Basecamp 24 – 25 drove our first festival. And from those small beginnings, Booking the event has grown, and we are again welcoming some Information & speakers who are leaders in their field, as well as some Getting Here 26 – 27 ordinary folk, who have done some extraordinary things. So with the great outdoors as popular as ever (and even a climbing film - albeit, the extraordinary Free Solo... winning an Oscar), it feels like we’ve tapped into something special.
