HISTORY & CIVILIZATIONS WHAT IF HISTORY HAD ITS HIDDEN STORY? Myths die hard, and the history of the 20th century is no exception to this rule. Even today, we hold popular beliefs that we take for Evangelical truths. Thus, we believe that Hiroshima caused Japan to surrender, that the Marshall Plan saved Europe, that Adolf Hitler was a military genius, or that Mao Zedong was a necessary evil for China’s modernization. Of course, these judgments contain some truth; but, too broad-stroked to be accurate, they contradict the historical reality by denying its complexity. What if the truth was slightly different? Through an exploration of great national or international myths, this full archive documentary collection revisits the key moments of the 20th century with a new perspective in order to provide a new, smarter and more subtle interpretation, bringing elements to light that have been forgotten or HISTORY UNCOVERED sometimes overshadowed. • Episode 1: Did Hiroshima make Japan surrender? HISTORY & CIVILIZATIONS FOR THE FIRST TIME, DISCOVER WHAT HAS REMAINED TO THIS DAY THE KENNEDY FAMILY’S DARKEST SECRET. In 1941, JFK’s sister, Rosemary, mysteriously disappeared from public sight after a lobotomy ordered by her own father. She emerged half-paralyzed, with the mental age of a 3-year- old child! SCIENCE & KNOWLEDGE TRAVEL BACK IN TIME TO VISIT THE FIVE MOST POWERFUL EXTINCTION EVENTS IN EARTH’S HISTORY. Today, 10 million species are living on the planet. But they represent only 4% of all the species that have inhabited Earth since its creation. What happened to the remaining 96%? Who were these species? Why did they vanish forever? At least five times in history, our planet has suffered from what we call “mass extinctions”. This documentary sheds new light on the kind of life that existed on five of the prior Earth Periods. Like a journey back in time starting 250 millions years ago, we will revisit the extraordinary lifeforms that evolved during Earth’s most significant geologic periods, and the cataclysmic events that resulted in their demise. A scientific investigation featuring spectacular CGI and VFX that will recreate the creatures that lived at that time to bring this ancient world back to life. SCIENCE & KNOWLEDGE A WONDERFUL EPIC, OVERLAND AND IN THE AIR INVESTIGATION ON THE EXTRAORDINARY AND YET LITTLE-KNOWN NATURAL PHENOMENON OF THE FLYING RIVERS. Often considered as the beating « heart of the Earth », the trees in the Amazon suck up water from the ground and pump out billion of tonnes of water vapour a day into vast “flying rivers”, essential to the environmental balance. But what if this natural phenomenon was to disappear? Could it trigger an irreversible ecological disequilibrium of global proportion? By following the scientists in the field and in their laboratories, and thanks to animated 3D sequences, the film deciphers the mechanisms of this extraordinary and little-known natural 9 phenomenon, only recently discovered by climate experts. A race against time to discover the Amazon rainforest from a climate perspective, questioning our planet’s biological FLYING RIVERS equilibrium and human responsibility. SCIENCE & KNOWLEDGE DISCOVER THE FIRST EVER DOCUMENTARY DIRECTED BY AN ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE! (A.I.) A new era is here: these recent years marked a turning point for Artificial Intelligence (A.I.). Used to create music, write science-fiction or novels, Artificial Intelligence still has plenty more tricks up its sleeve. Can Artificial Intelligence compete with humans with regard to intuition and creativity? Will machines be able to reason for themselves in the near future? All these questions will be tackled in this film through a unique experiment: asking a computer to make a documentary about A.I. Using powerful algorithms, the computer will be able to draw relevant information from the billions of databases on the web, but will it manage to organize it in a logical way with a narrative structure to produce a documentary? What are the AI: INSIDE ARTIFICIAL current limits of A.I.? A unique technological adventure that will take us closer to A.I. than ever before. SCIENCE & KNOWLEDGE A SCIENTIFIC INVESTIGATION THAT SHEDS LIGHT ON OUR LITTLE-KNOWN SIXTH SENSE CALLED PROPRIOCEPTION. Supernatural intuition, power of the mind, the 6th sense has never ceased to be a sort of fantasy. Yet, beyond our five senses, there is indeed a hidden sense, often ignored by all: proprioception, which allows us to move about, write and catch an object in movement. It is indispensable to us, essential for our balance, our displacements, as well as to ensure the coordination of our movements. How is this 6th sense organized? How does it evolve during our existence? Is it possible to train it? Embark on a scientific investigation to discover this little-known sense. This film will be largely illustrated by the choreography of the Yoann Bourgeois company dancers. By their movements, they render this hidden sense somehow visible. Often in unstable OUR TRUE 6TH SENSE balance, seemingly frozen in suspension before a fall, playing with the bounce of a trampoline, struggling against a unstable stage, or playing with a system of counterweights, Documentary Film 52’ 4K they embody to perfection and with poetry and grace all the By Vincent Amouroux capabilities and functioning of our proprioception. Bedbugs invade city centers, lice are doing most well, the Tiger mosquito is on the way to Germany, ticks abound. Why are they back? How can we eliminate rapidly these very unwanted guests? INVESTIGATION & POLITICS AN IN-DEPTH AND JUICY INVESTIGATION ON THE MAKING OF IGNORANCE. How can science be manipulated to create doubt? Why and in who’s interest? Thanks to never-before-seen archives, testimonies from repentants and graphic animations, this investigation plunges us into the science of doubt by reconstructing its mechanisms. Along with a team of experts (philosophers, economists, cognitive scientists, or even agnotologists), we explore concrete examples of doubt making (the tobacco industry, endocrine disruptor sector, climate change skeptics…) and try to understand the whole process and the issues behind it.
