Feeding Treats A friendly reminder to please make sure you ask the owner of a horse before providing them with treats outside of their regular feed. Not only is it important for permission to be given by an owner to make sure they are aware of what is being fed to their horse, some of the horses at Ringside are on specialized diets that may prevent them from safely consuming different treats. In addition, in light of the upcoming show season, there are certain treats and foods that may cause a horse and therefore rider to be disqualified from participating as it may show up if the horse were to be randomly drug tested. We all want to reward our horses with treats, but just need to do it in a safe manner. Recommended treats, with an owner’s permission, are carrots and mints. Ringside appreciates your cooperation! Monte has already become best friends with Willie, and has joined the lesson program easily. He is 16 years old and was previously owned by a trainer and shown at three foot. Willie is 14 years old and came from the western world with experience over small jumps. It was determined he was too tall for most western riders, and he has found a new home at Ringside. Blaze is a 16 year old, 15 hand chestnut mare who previously had a career in the three foot show ring. Monte Willie Blaze Buying or Selling Clothing & Equipment Interested in buying or selling horse related apparel and equipment? We understand the value of wanting to buy secondhand items for this often expensive sport, particularly when your rider may soon grow out of their clothes and boots. Ringside’s riders often have extra items they are looking to sell, such as boots, show clothes, or tack. Please contact Katherine H. with your item and asking price and she will compile a list to be shared with everyone at Ringside. Added advantages are that it will be cheaper than buying brand new, no shipping costs are involved, and you will be able to try the item before purchasing to ensure it fits you and your horse’s needs. Riders can also let Katherine know if they are searching for a particular item. Items for sale will be posted by the school tack room.
