Please make other arrangements to launch boats during this period as we complete this much needed project. The FWYC winners of the trophy were Ian Hunter, Seth Cook, Kip Feb 29 - Mar 1 Frosty Nipple Viper Series #3 Keelin and Camille McGriff. Ian and crew won the trophy for their finish in the 2019 Mallory Cup, which was sailed WNFRs March 11 - September 30! at the Beverly Yacht Club in Marion, Massachusetts in September. Letter Log February 2020 30° 25.60’N 86° 35.58’W The Florida Council of Yacht Clubs As many of you know, our Club is a member of the Florida Council of Yacht Clubs (FCYC). This membership keeps us aware of happenings in other member clubs, gives us an ear, and a voice, on what is taking place in the legislature that may impact our Club. In addition, our membership in FCYC affords our members reciprocal privileges at other member clubs.... the ability to charge your food and drink to your FWYC club number and one free night of dockage at the various clubs. More information and detail about the FCYC can be found at http://www.floridacouncilofyachtclubs.com/ or you can contact one of your Directors... Tom Reynolds or Reddoch Williams P/Cs Reynolds & Williams and spouses attended the January meeting at the Tampa Yacht & Country Club – just a little background on the TYCC: founded in 1904; 1400+ members; 160 employees (70 full time) The Commander, Special Operations Command Central (SOCCENT) ,Rear Admiral Wyman Howard gave an overview of threats and readiness … a great talk... �� The FCYC Cruising Guide 17th Edition is now available. This gives details about FCYC clubs, contact information, directions by land and water. PDF copies have been sent to all Club Managers and FCYC Directors- these may be distributed to members and/or printed out for sale. Fleet Captain East Joey Sowell and Publication Chair Carl Schultz are polling all of the clubs who have not updated their Cruising Guide information for current information. Once assembled, a new electronic copy will be forwarded to all clubs. Our new distribution method for the FCYC Cruising Guide is not only inexpensive (free) it can be continuously updated... a big improvement over previous years. Suggestion: download a copy and put it on your tablet, laptop, phone so that you will always have it available while traveling.... you never know when you might be in the area of one of our Clubs and would like to stop in. �� Office Depot offers a significant discount to FCYC members. ( As a member of an FCYC Club you ARE an FCYC member). The Office has a copy of the coupon which may be given to members. Just take it to Office Depot and it will be converted to a membership card offering SIGNIFICANT discounts.. Carl Schultz says that if you want a bound color copy of the Cruising Guide... using the discount card, it should be about $22. Best Female Junior Sailor - Katherine Custer In June 2019, JD raced in the Junior Olympic Sailing Festival at the Pensacola Yacht Club, getting first in Green Fleet. In August, he raced in his first Red White & Blue regatta, the Galloway Regatta at Gulfport YC. Also in August he raced in the Junior Olympic Rock Paper Scissors Regatta in Birmingham. In September 2019, he got third in RWB Fleet JD with his 3rd at the Chappell Stitt Regatta at Place Trophy at PYC. In November, JD traveled the Chappell Stitt Regatta to New Orleans and raced in the 2019 Opti Midwinter Championships at Southern YC. He found fierce competition and extra strong wind on Lake Pontchartrain. In the local Opti races, JD is consistently in first place. His next regatta will be the second weekend in February at St. Petersburg YC for the Valentine’s Day Regatta . Well done, John Douglas. Keep up the good work. 14

30° 25.60’N 86° 35.58’W February 2020 Letter Log WOMEN ON THE WATER OF FWYC Women on the Water (WOW) serves the women of FWYC as they serve the Club itself. We are focusing on including as many new members as possible by providing a social venue for exchanging ideas and experiences. All FWYC ladies are invited and encouraged to participate. Our regular schedule is a cocktail party on the evening of the first Thursday of each month, and our luncheon on the third Thursday. The monthly cocktail party begins at 5:30 pm in the Lounge and offers you a choice of a light snack from the Lounge menu (optional) and/or a drink special for the evening. Lunch begins at 11:30 am (or whenever you can come) in the FWYC Commodores Room, with meal choices from the Club menu. Our next monthly cocktail party will be on the evening of Thursday, 6 February; our next WOW Luncheon will be on Thursday, 20 February.
