THE NORTHERN CORRIDOR IMPROVEMENTS PROJECT The Northern Corridor Improvements Project is the last link in the Western Ring Route, connecting the north with the west long SH1 and SH18. Major benefits of completing the Northern Corridor Improvements Project include: • A second high quality, high capacity route for north-south travel through Auckland that avoids the central city • A resilient and alternative route for freight between Northland and the rest of the country • Easing pressure on the surrounding local road network in Albany, North Harbour and further north and north-west • Improving public transport options by extending the successful Northern Busway • More than 7kms of new safe shared cycling and walking facilities.
