ING AWARD

BACKGROUND
We are all feeling the burden of the COVID epidemic and the consequent cancellations of many of our
usual activities. In spite of these set-backs we wish to respond by offering an opportunity to this year’s
community of graduates in Jewellery and Silversmithing. Despite the challenges we all currently face
New Designers and The Goldsmiths’ Centre are seeking to make awards in both jewellery and silver-
smithing. To that end, this year we are inviting graduating students to submit their ideas to the follow-
ing brief:

THE BRIEF
Creativity, craftsmanship and community are at the heart of the Goldsmiths’ Centre. We invite you to
submit a brief on the theme of “Community”. We want submissions to be highly creative, thought pro-
voking and which trigger discussion and debate against a backdrop of unprecedented change in cultur-
al and current events. Your entry should consider and reference the functionality of the final piece(s).

PRIZE
The lucky winner will receive:
• One-week of work experience in a professional jewellery workshop at the Goldsmiths’ Centre. You
will spend your week one-on-one with a master craftsperson focusing on your own work. You will
leave having spent time at the bench learning or developing practical skills which will support the
    production of your work.
• A bursary of up to £500 towards living expenses is available to support you for your work experi-
    ence week in London

registration). This unrivalled package comprises a 10-year registration and laser software set-up in
    preparation for laser hallmarking.*
• Free access to the Goldsmiths’ Company Library and its resources, as required, to support your
research and design development now and in the future.

of the first packet of work. Punches take up to 3 weeks to create so the first packet of work may be delayed to allow
