The Coronavirus Governors. pandemic has certainly helped to shine a light on what is truly Buoyed by the launch of the Coronavirus vaccination programme, we wish important to us and highlight you and your loved ones a happy and prosperous what we really depend on. new year. Many of us have encountered new and unfamiliar challenges Wishing you all the best for the new year, and discovered strength and Crishni Waring resilience that we did not even Crishni Waring, Chair NHFT know we had. After all, it is often said that we learn most from the worst times. These themes emerged when we talked to our staff about their reflections on the year. Many also talked about the importance of kindness (to others and to themselves) and of staying connected with family, friends and colleagues. Despite the numerous restrictions on our daily lives, including social distancing and face masks, we have made the best of virtual communication technology to stay connected at NHFT. Switching our annual staff wellbeing festival from a large-scale physical event to an even larger event online was a great achievement. Those unable to join the festival in real time, were able to ‘catch up’ at a later date. What started as a constraint arguably became an enabler. Wellbeing has been, and remains, an important feature in our plans. At this time of year, many of us are thinking about new year’s resolutions and often focus on improving our health and wellbeing. From losing a few pounds, to giving up smoking or learning new things, our resolutions are a good way to look forward to a better and happier future. One of the many things we are looking forward to in the coming year is the relaunch of our Members’ events. I invite you to join us at our first Members’ event of 2021 at which we shall share information on the 4 5

NHFT ART COMPETITION Budding artists across Northamptonshire put pens to papers, and brushes to canvas in a bid to spread some joy as part of the NHFT art competition. From superheroes, to rainbows, to poems and all wonderful sketches, local NHS trusts have been overwhelmed with the support throughout the pandemic, and it was time that NHFT organised an art competition to honour this! To celebrate the talent across the county, NHFT hosted an art competition throughout the summer and commemorate the ongoing dedication and hard-work received from NHS colleagues during this challenging period. The art competition had three categories 0-11 years old, 11 - 18 years old and 18+ category. One winner was picked in each category and received a certificate NHFT chief executive, Angela Hillery, as well as a chocolate prize. Selected by an array of judges, the winning designs were created by Harriet (0-11 category), Isabella (11-18) and Hannah (18+ category). Angela Hillery, Chief Executive of NHFT, said: “We have been overwhelmed by the creativity and talent of the budding artists who took the time to enter the art competition. Each and every design has touched our colleagues and provided them with a much-needed smile during these challenging times. “We would like to thank everyone who sent in their fantastic designs, and congratulations to our three winners; Harriet, Isabella and Hannah.” Chelsey Raine, our Young Service User Governor, was asked to be a judge for our art competition and said: “I was asked to take part in judging the art competition in the summer when they needed extra judges. I took part because I personally really enjoy art and its fun to see other people’s creativity. I got to see lots of different creations from different age groups and they were all really talented, the competition overall was a lovely idea in a not so great year.” 16 17
