EXCURSIONS AVAILABLE AT ALYESKA RESORT There is so much to see and do when based at Alyeska Resort. This guide is designed to give you information on optional excursions that can be booked at the Alyeska Resort Concierge Desk. Please do not hesitate to contact us if you have any questions, or when you are ready to make reservations. Once you have a confirmed reservation, the concierge will provide you with a detailed confirmation letter with suggestions of what to bring, how to dress and driving directions, if applicable.
CANCELLATIONS Each Tour Provider has their own cancellation policy. Please check with the concierge for details. If you tour gets cancelled by the vendor due to weather or any other reason, you will be issued a full refund. RATES Rates listed here include all taxes and fees and are rounded to the nearest dollar. In some cases, there may be an additional fee for transportation, meal upgrades or other incidentals. These fees will be explained in full by the concierge prior to booking. All information provided is subject to change and should be used as a guideline only.

ATV TOURS Bird Creek ATV Tour Tour: 3 hours (+ + transfer 30 minutes each way) Enjoy a fully guided tour into the scenic backcountry on easy to operate four wheelers. Look for wildlife such as bear, sheep , mountain goats, moose and eagles. The tour includes a short hike down to a spectacular waterfall where spawning salmon can be viewed from mid -June to September. FLIGHTSEEING TOURS Glacier Helicopter Tour Tour: 30 minutes (+ + transfer 15 minutes each way) Soar over panoramic Alaskan scenery spotting wildlife as you glide by picturesque mountain peaks in the heart of glacier country. Helicopter Glacier Landing Tour: 1 hour (+ + transfer 15 minutes each way) Extend your fight seeing adventure by taking our most popular tour that explores the Lake George Glacier, Lake George Valley and Colony Glacier. As you fly through the Chugach backcountry the panorama opens to glacier – formed valleys and magnificent fields of ancient translucent blue ice. Highlight your trip with a glacier landing or atop a high ridge with a 360-degree view. Prince William Sound Glacier Tour Tour: 1.5 hour (+ + transfer 15 minutes each way) Experience everything as the Glacier Landing Tour but ad a return trip over trip over the pristine waters of Prince William Sound. The clear waters and rocky fjords of Prince William Sound offer breathtaking landscapes and excellent wildlife spotting opportunities. Discover Denali by Plane Tour: 3 plus hour (+ + transfer 15 minutes each way) This popular flightseeing tour departs Anchorage and takes you within 6 miles of Mt. Denali’s 20,320- foot summit. BEAR VIEWING TOURS Redoubt Bay Lodge Bear Viewing Tour: 6.5 hours (+ + transfer 45 minutes each way) Visit a remote wilderness lodge and learn about bears and bear behavior. Your naturalist guide will take you out by boat to view brown bears in their natural habitat fishing for salmon. A deli - style lunch at the lodge is included. This tour includes a seaplane flight from Anchorage's Lake Hood Float Plane base to the lodge. The flight time is about 50 minutes each way. Departs: 8:00am and 12:30pm Rates: From $826 per person Notes: Departs from Anchorage. Transportation can be arranged for an additional fee.
Katmai National Park Bear Viewing Tour: 12 hours (+ + transfer 45 minutes each way) Take off by seaplane on an all-day bear viewing expedition past glaciers and volcanoes to the brown bear country of south west Alaska. Visit world famous Katmai National Park and walk to Brooks Falls to see bears while they play and fish for salmon. The one-mile trail leads to two separate platforms to watch and photograph bears in the falls. The trip is self-guided to the falls. Park Rangers are available. Lake Clark National Park Bear Viewing Tour: 10-12 hours Visit Lake Clark Wilderness Preserve for a truly remote Alaskan experience. Take off by seaplane from Anchorage's Lake Hood float plane base and enjoy a 70 mile scenic flight to Redoubt Mountain Lodge, located on the glacial fed waters of Crescent Lake. Your experienced guides will take you out by boat to view bears fishing for salmon in their natural habitat. A gourmet lunch is served at the lodge. After lunch, it is your choice of activity. You can go out for additional bear viewing, hike to a waterfall or spend the afternoon kayaking around the lake. Departs: 8:00am Rates: From $1031 per person Notes: Departs from Anchorage. Chinitna Bay Bear Viewing Tour: 6 hours Located on the southern end of Lake Clark National Park and Preserve, Chinitna Bay is home to a multitude of brown bears that come to the bay to feed on the protein rich sedge grasses, copious clams, and fish the late summer salmon runs. Listen as your expert guide shar es tales of the resident bears and their families. You’ll travel with our guide by 4WD bus to where the brown bears are most active. Once at the best location, you will disembark the bus and witness these magnificent animals digging for clams, sunning on the beach, or the feeding in the m eadow, or out in the bay. You’ll be amazed at the sheer mass of the male brown bear, and fall in love with the cubs as they wrestle and play. WILDLIFE & GLACIER CRUISES 26 Glacier Cruise Tour: 5 hours (+ transfer approximately 45 minutes each way) Cruise through the calm, protected waters of Prince William Sound on a luxurious high-speed catamaran. You will see 26 glaciers and you have an excellent chance of spotting wildlife such as whales, porpoises, sea otters, seals, puffins, sheep and bear. Lunch is served on board the ship while viewing tidewater glaciers. You have a meal choice of Wild Alaska Salmon Chowder, or hearty vegetable chili. Glacier Quest Tour: 3.75 hours (+ transfer approximately 45 minutes each way) The Glacier Quest Cruise takes you from Whittier to Blackstone Bay, a dramatic deep water fjord where two tidewater glaciers and several alpine glaciers await. From timberline to sea level, a mature, thick spruce forest provides a dark green contrast against the white spray of waterfalls stemming from the 8 glaciers hugging the mountain peaks. You have a meal choice of wild Alaska Salmon Chowder, or hearty vegetable chili. Great for kids! Orca Quest Cruise Tour: 4 hours (+ transfer 2 hours each way) From mid-May through mid-June, orca whales frequent the waters outside of Seward in search of food. Join the local whale experts as we search for orcas during this prime time for orca whale watching. Onboard hydrophone allows you to listen to whale calls underwater. Explore the world of orca whales on the only Orca-focused cruise in Seward. Kenai Fjords National Park Cruise Tour: 6 hours (+ transfer 2 hours each way) Cruise effortlessly into the tranquil beauty of Kenai Fjords National Park as your experienced captain shares the story of this spectacular region while seeking the best wildlife and glacier viewing opportunities for you. A healthy lunch is served on board, allowing for more time for you to experience the natural wonders of the park. Kenai Fjords National Park with Fox Island Tour: 8.5 hours (+ transfer 2 hours each way) Includes all of the above National Park tour with an added bonus! Stop over at the privately owned Fox Island Wilderness Lodge for a grilled salmon and prime rib dinner and a Park Ranger presentation. Kenai Fjords Northwestern Fjord Cruise Tour: 9 hours (+ transfer time 2 hours each way) This premium full day cruise is the only daily tour visiting magnificent Northwestern Fjord. Explore 150 miles of marine wildlife, sea birds and tidewater glaciers. A breakfast snack and a healthy lunch are served on board. Departs: 8:00am Rates: From $249 adult / no child rate Notes: Transportation is not available for this tour. Due to the length of this tour, it is best suited for adults. Resurrection Bay Cruise with Fox Island Tour: 4.5 hours (+ transfer time 2 hours each way) Cruise to from Resurrection Bay to Fox Island for an all-you-can- eat Alaska salmon and prime rib buffet at an exclusive wilderness lodge. Learn about the rich history of Resurrection Bay and watch for wildlife such as whales, puffins, sea lions and otters. Great for families! General Cruise Information When deciding which cruise to take, it is important to consider the following; if you are very prone to seasickness, consider a cruise out of Prince William Sound. The sheltered bays and coves make it less likely you will get sea sick than going out in the more open waters of Kenai Fjords. If you are traveling with small children, you may want to consider a shorter rather than longer cruise. Bring extra warm layers as the temperatures can be 10 degrees cooler out on the water. Don't forget to bring extra camera batteries!
SEA OR LAKE KAYAKING, RIVER RAFTING & HIKING Kittiwake Sea Kayaking Tour Tour: 3 hours (+ transfer approximately 45 minutes each way) This is a terrific trip for those wanting an introduction to sea kayaking. Paddle a 3 mile loop from the Whittier harbor in the calm waters of Prince William Sound. Basic instruction is provided. You will explore waterfalls, coves and a Black Legged Kittiwake bird rookery. This tour offers light exercise and adventure. Departs: 9:00am, 1:00pm and 5:00pm Rates: From $100 per person (10 and up) Notes: Transportation is not available.
Passage Canal Sea Kayaking Tour Tour: 6 hours (+ transfer approximately 45 minutes each way) This is a fantastic paddle from the Whittier harbor. A longer and a bit more strenuous paddle than the Kittiwake Tour, this trip covers about 6 or 7 miles. Basic instruction is provided in the harbor and then you are ready to set out to discover hidden coves, waterfalls, wildlife and glacial views. Your guides will stop at a beach where you will go on a short hike before enjoying a fabulous picnic lunch on the beach. Departs: 10:00am Rates: From $184 per person (10 and up) Notes: Transportation is not available. Blackstone Bay Sea Kayaking Trip Tour: 9 hours (+ transfer approximately 45 minutes each way) This tour is the cream of the crop sea kayaking day trip from Prince William Sound. Your day will start with a charter boat ride from Whittier to a beach near Blackstone Bay. You and your guides will have the opportunity to paddle in the tidewater glacier areas of Blackstone Bay while you learn about its natural history. The sights and sounds of the actively calving glacier from the unique viewpoint of our ocean kayaks just may be the highlight of your trip. Wildlife sightseeing from a kayak can be fun and exciting. A hearty picnic lunch is included. At the end of the paddling day you will be taken back to Whittier by charter boat. This tour is geared for the active and physically fit individuals looking for an unforgettable Alaskan adventure. Concierge pick! Kayaking at Spencer Lake Tour: 9 hours (meet in hotel Lobby) Clients ride the scenic Alaska Railroad train along the Turnagain Arm to the Spencer Whistle Stop. Then at Spencer they disembark the train to experience the wilderness and get away from the crowds by starting your trip where most people turn around. Enjoy several hours to paddle among icebergs and to the face of Spencer Glacier. One goal is to touch an iceberg!From the Spencer Whistle Stop, groups of 7 or less board a van for a short ride on the gravel road to our kayak cove overlooking outstanding views of the glacier and Icebergs floating in Spencer lake. Guides outfit kayakers in all paddling gear and give a kayaking and safety briefing. The paddle includes outstanding views of the glacier and icebergs floating in Spencer lake with photo and rest stops to learn about interesting local wildlife, icebergs, history and glaciology. Guests will unload from the kayaks and hike from Kayak cove back to the Whistle stop. The 5 hours spent at Spencer includes iceberg kayaking and trail hiking. A boxed lunch will be included. After lunch, enjoy a Scenic Train Ride to Grandview thru the Upper Placer River Gorge Canyon, before returning for the day. Spencer Iceberg Float and Train Tour: 7 hours (meets in hotel lobby) Travel by train to remote Spencer Whistle Stop. Get up close and personal to the icebergs on this scenic float suitable for all ages. Our experienced and professional guides will row you right up to the picturesque icebergs on Spencer Lake. The panoramic views of the Spencer Glacier and surrounding mountains are beautiful. This trip includes upgrade options such as a tour of the Alaska Wildlife Conservation Center to view bears, moose and other Alaskan wildlife, or a Salmon Bake Dinner in the evening with glacier views, or heli-hiking add-on. Please ask concierge for details. Departs: 11:00am Rates: From $335 adult / $224 child (5-11) Notes: Tour also departs from the Portage Train Depot for a discounted fare. Transportation is s not available to Portage, so a rental car would be necessary. A salmon bake dinner while viewing glaciers is also available of an additional fee. Portage River Float Tour: 2-3 hours (hotel pick up at 9am, and 5pm) This 6-mile scenic adventure offers panoramic views that you will enjoy while rafting the peaceful Portage River. After enjoying a visit to the Portage Glacier Visitors Center, you and your experienced raft guides will launch from the end of Portage Lake. Conditions permitting, you will float within arm’s length of icebergs. You continue your float trip down stream in Portage River with views of glaciers and possible wildlife sightseeing. Rubber boots, life jacket and rain gear (if necessary) will be provided. Your guides do all the paddling in oar boats, so you just sit back, relax and enjoy the view. Departs: 9:00am Rates: From $125 adult / $105 child Notes: 6-person minimum. For an additional fee, you can upgrade your trip to include a riverside salmon dinner cooked over an open fire, this can be arranged on a 4:30pm tour. You can also add on a trip to the Alaska Wildlife Conservation Center and a deli-lunch for $75/per person.
Kenai River Scenic Float Trip Tour: 2 hours (+ transfer 1.5 hours each way) Take a scenic float trip along a non-motorized section of the world-famous Kenai River. Keep a watch out for moose, bear, eagles and salmon as your guide navigates through the snow capped mountain scenery of the Kenai National Wildlife Refuge. Hear stories about the area, early settlers and the forces that shaped the Kenai River Valley. Departs: 9:00am, 12:30pm and 4:30pm Rates: From $67 adult / $46 child (5-11) Notes: Transportation is not available. Children must be at least 35 lbs. Kenai River Canyon Full Day Raft Trip Tour: 7 hours (+ transfer 1.5 hours each way) Join your guides for an enlightening journey into unspoiled Alaskan wilderness that most travelers never see. Start with a scenic float, searching for moose, bear, bald eagles and salmon. Enjoy a delicious shore side picnic lunch, and then ride the Class 2 spirited rapids through the Kenai River Canyon. End your adventure with a scenic boat exploration along a pristine glacier carved lakeshore in the heart of the Kenai National Wildlife Refuge. Six Mile Creek 2 Canyon White Water Raft Tour: 3.5 hours (+ transfer 1 hour each way) Set in the Chugach National Forest, Six Mile Creek is a run for white water enthusiasts desiring the highest difficulty level in a guided white water trip. Dropping over 50 ft. per mile, this creek has cut its way through three separate canyons offering Class 4 and Class 5 whitewater. Rising over 500 ft. in places, these towering canyon walls are draped in a lush carpet of old-growth forest with cascading waterfalls. Crystal clear water and an abundant salmon run makes this a river runner's dream. With each succeeding canyon, you will encounter whitewater of increasing difficulty. The two canyon whitewater trip is consistent Class whitewater. Six Mile Creek 3 Canyon White Water Raft Tour: 5 hours (+ transfer 1 hour each way) For those seeking the most excitement, add on the 3rd canyon to your white water adventure. The third canyon is consistent Class 5 whitewater. We also offer a float trip from the same location, so some can raft the whitewater, some can do the float trip. Ask concierge for details. Departs: 9:00am and 2:00pm Rates: From $196 per person Notes: Dry suits, paddles, life jackets and river shoes are provided. Please be prepared to take a practice swim in a calm stretch of the river. Transportation can be arranged for an additional fee. Must be 15 years of age or older.
Glacier Hike and Raft Tour: 5-7hrs (hotel pick up 7:30am) An Alaskan experience for all ages! After going through North America’s longest tunnel to Whittier, your day starts out with the two-mile Portage Pass Trail to the lake shore. You’ll meet your raft guide and head to tour the face of Portage Glacier. Afterwards, your group can help your guide paddle across the vast Portage Lake and continue down the river. Learn how glaciers and weather formed the landscape to give you an appreciation of the power of ice. Specialized in small or private groups with decades of experience Alaskan guides. Come prepared with waterproof hiking boots or shoes and waterproof layers. Lifejackets and extra layers (if needed) are provided. This is a full day experience, lunch, snacks and hot drinks are covered. Scenic Portage Rafting Tour: 3hrs (hotel pick up 9am, 11am, 1pm and 3pm) All levels, all ages adventure! Our float begins on the vast Portage Lake and weather depending, we will explore the lake before heading down the river. Occasionally, icebergs can be seen in the lake. This valley has a healthy population of moose, black bear, bald eagles and all five species of salmon run up river later in the summer and early fall. We will take a break on a gravel bar under one of Portage Valley’s alpine glaciers to take in the view and look for animal prints. Specialized in small or private groups with decades of experience Alaskan guides. Bring layers and hiking shoes. Lifejackets and rain layer (if needed) are provided. Snacks and hot drinks provided. Portage Valley Hikes Tour: 2-3hrs (hotel pick up 9am, 11am, 1pm and 3pm departures) Portage Valley has evidence of recent glacier recession. Your guide will give you an interpretative hike through forests, under the alpine glaciers and around glacier blue ponds as we make our way to the vast Portage Lake. This valley has a healthy population of moose, black bear, bald eagles and all five species of salmon run up side creeks later in the summer and early fall. Specialized in small or private groups with decades of experience Alaskan guides. Wear good hiking shoes and bring weather appropriate layers. Snacks and hot drink provided. Level: Everyone, some trails are wheelchair accessible. Length: 3-7 miles depending on group’s desire. HELI HIKING & RAFTING Heli Hiking and Rafting Tour: 9.5 hours (meets in lobby) This is a true Alaska full-day adventure and not for the faint of heart. Begin the day with a 25 minute stunning flight to Comet Glacier. Hike from Comet Glacier to Spencer Glacier on a 5+ mile hike. The first 2 miles of the hike are on alpine terrain with no established trail and snow at times. Catered lunch and hot drinks are served on the hike. When you get to Spencer Lake, jump on a raft for a stunning view of icebergs and Spencer Glacier before rafting 7 miles down the Placer River Valley. This trip is suitable for ages 12 and up. Departs: 8:00am Rates: From $805/per person Notes: Complimentary hotel pick up is available. Heli Rafting Twenty-Mile River Tour: 6 hours (meets in lobby) This is our most remote rafting tour. Buzz the Twenty-Mile Glacier on a spectacular 20 minute unforgettable flight. Land next to the iceberg-laden lake for your raft adventure down Twenty-Mile River. Float 12 stunning miles downriver to the ocean, taking out at Turnagain Arm. A shore-side catered lunch, snacks and drinks are provided. This trip is suitable for ages 6 and up. DOG SLED TOURS Glacier Dog Sledding Tour: 2.5 hours (1.5 hours on the glacier) This is the real deal dog sled adventure! Step aboard a helicopter for a spectacular flight through the Chugach Mountains to a remote glacier based camp. Experience the enthusiasm of the Alaskan Iditarod Huskies while you mush on an alpine snow field. Accompanied by your guide, an Iditarod musher, you will have the chance to drive the dog team yourself, or ride in the sled while taking in the grandeur of the North Country. Concierge pick! Pinzgauer and Summer Dog Sled Tour Tour: 3 hours Two tours in one...too much fun! This Alaskan experience starts with an 8 mile scenic mountain ride up the historical Iditarod trail in an open air 6x6 off road vehicle. Your guide will share the rich history of the area. Stunning views and 7000’ mountain peaks surround you. Upon arriving at Girdwood Mushing Company’s kennel you will meet Iditarod musher Nick Petit and his 4 legged athletes. Hear Nick’s Iditarod stories, and then hop aboard a sled dog cart and let Nick and his Alaskan huskies take you on a ride. Experience the strength and energy the dogs have for pulling and running. After your thrilling dog cart ride, the Pinzgauers will take you to the Puppy Pavilion. Pose for photos with the puppies, Iditarod trophies, dog sleds & gear. Ididaride Full Day Tour Tour: 6.5 hours (+ transfer 2 hours each way) This tour is the best way to see Seward in one day. First, tour historic downtown Seward, one of the oldest communities in Alaska, where you will see firsthand the effects of the 1964 earthquake. Stand in awe of Mt. Marathon, home of the second oldest foot race in the United States. Then visit mile "0" to the Iditarod trail and learn why Seward was the "gateway" to Alaska. Fish runs are dependent on a number of variables outside your guides’ control, including weather, river levels, spawning seasons and commercial fishing pressure. In order to conserve the supply of fish for future generations, state regulations require you to stop fishing once you have reached the limit allowed by law.
