2018: A MAJOR MILESTONE
Memory Matters Capital Campaign Culminates in
New Memory Care Home

Dear Friends,

It was just a few short years ago, that we came to believe it was possible for St. Anne’s Mead to develop a
state-of-the-art memory care home to complement our assisted living and nursing care homes. Thanks to you, in
August of 2018, that possibility became a reality and we opened our memory care home to great fanfare, raising
more than $790,000 and exceeding our goal of $750,000.
We are now at the forefront of helping men and women with Alzheimer’s disease and other forms of dementia, and
their family members. At 53 years young, St. Anne’s Mead is one of the area’s first senior living communities.
We’ve learned a lot in those years and now we are adding to our expertise. Our reputation for a warm, caring
environment is now extended to an even wider audience.
I owe an enormous debt of gratitude to our Board of Trustees, led by John J. Lynch, our Community Engagement and
Development Committee, Facilities Committee, Staff and many, many others for their help in bringing this amazing
project to fruition.
St. Anne’s Mead is a place where residents, families and friends, live, learn and play. Our family lounges create
comfortable places for family gatherings, classes, games and meetings, while our library is a quiet place to sit back,
read the paper or enjoy a good book. With age comes the need for revitalization and this year we have a
mission to provide that renewal to our lounges and library. With a goal of raising $125,000, we are asking for
your support of “Mission: Possible” to refurbish our lounges and library, the special gathering places that enhance
the quality of our residents’ lives.
We appreciate you making a tax-deductible contribution to an organization you know and trust. As good stewards
of your gifts, more than 85% of all income goes directly to care and programming at St. Anne’s Mead. We have
two important areas for you to consider supporting with your spring gift.

Please use the envelope provided or make a secure donation online at www.stannesmead.org.

MISSION: Possible to refurbish and renew our library and family lounges. We also have room
        naming opportunities starting at $25,000.

ANGEL FUND: Our benevolent fund is a critical source of support for residents in need, often at the
end of their life. The Angel Fund helps qualified residents with basic needs of medical care, rent and
       nutritious meals.

Thank you for unwavering support to St. Anne’s Mead.

Sincerely yours,

                      Jane Collins, Executive Director

Recruited by board members Elizabeth Briody and Marc Robinson, when asked, he didn’t think twice. He joined and
eventually served on the Executive Committee as Chair of the Board of Trustees and Treasurer. Knowing the need for
quality memory care was growing, he championed the Memory Matters Capital Campaign and development of the
Memory Care Home. John thanks other trustees, including Bishop Wednell N. Gibbs, Donna Hartwig, Jake Jones,
Craig Hammond, Deric Righter, Sister Mary Schmidlin and Jane Collins for their support. Because of his leadership,
the Memory Care Home opened in August of 2018. “We have to lead by example,” said John. “We have a
growing senior population, many of whom are vulnerable, and if we don’t step up to help, who will?” he asked.

John has made his involvement at St. Anne’s Mead a family affair. John’s wife, Anne, his brother, Terry, sister-in-law,
Laura and nephew, Kevin are all involved and support St. Anne’s Mead. “John is an optimist who knows how to
lead and inspire people,” said Jane Collins. “I am eternally grateful to the Episcopal Diocese of Michigan and
Christ Church Cranbrook for their support as well,” added John. St. Anne’s Mead turns 53 years young in 2019,
and John says he looks forward to championing the next 50 years of St. Anne’s Mead.

MONEY MATTERS: 2018 Our 52nd Year of Service
At St. Anne’s Mead, we are happy to report that the vast majority, (85%), of all income and donations go

we exceeded our goal, raising more than $790,000 for our Memory Matters Capital Campaign. Going forward,
our fundraising efforts will support Mission: Possible, capital improvements for our Library and Lounges which
are enjoyed by residents, family members and visitors alike, as well as our Angel Fund for residents-in-need.
As a non-profit 501(c)3 organization, we value your gift and use it to ensure the highest quality care continues
