Ars longa: Old and new music for the
theorbo sees Elizabeth Kenny, one of
Europe’s leading lute and theorbo players,
perform an inventive recital of diverse
     repertoire spanning five centuries. The
     theorbo’s eccentric appearance and
tuning belies its expressive and delicate
qualities; its versatility extends to beautiful
     melodies, experimental harmonies and
a wonderfully resonant bass. The recital
takes the listener from the early avant-
garde repertoire for the instrument of
Kasperger and Piccinini to the new and
     imaginative sounds explored by today’s
     composers, including Sir James Macmillan
     and Nico Muhly.

In this concert, Elizabeth will be joined
by soloists from Rugby School’s Music
     Department, including natural trumpeter
David Blackadder, who played as soloist
at the wedding of the Duke and Duchess
of Sussex. Singers will include sopranos
Philippa Hyde, Olivia Scarozza and BBC
Radio 2 Young Chorister of the Year 2017,
     Ischia Gooda.

A group of teenagers do something bad, really bad,
then panic and cover the whole thing up. But when
