SERVICES GUIDE International Missionary Benefit Society al Mis ion s at io rn na Inte r y B e fi t 2021 edition en english language S oc iety
THE PRESIDENT'S WORD The International Missionary Benefit Society brings together nearly 30 000 members : priests, religious, members of faithful associations, missionaries or attached to indigenous communities, Catholics, Protestants or Orthodox. By taking charge of their health, the IMS contributes to the vitality of the Church. Since March 2020, in addition to the many sicks and deceased persons, the Covid-19 impacts the pastoral life and the economic activity of our dioceses and communities. This strengthens our responsibility towards each other. The Steering Committee is vigilant on the balance of accounts but also wants solidarity to spread more among groups in great difficulty due to the pandemic. A social fund exists, groups can send exceptional request for help or discounts on contributions to their Section. I invite everyone to show solidarity by ensuring balance of his group’s accounts. Let these words of Pope Francis, in the encyclical Fratelli Tutti No. 115, encourage us : "At a time when everything seems to disintegrate and lose consistency, it is good for us to appeal to the « solidity » born of the consciousness that we are responsible for the fragility of others as we strive to build a common future. [...] And service in great part means « caring " for vulnerability. » This Services Guide provides much-needed informations for your communities. Additional information is available on the new IMS website. Don't hesitate to consult it and share your reactions. In communion of prayer and mutual aid to welcome the new 2021. Sister Elisabeth Auliac IMS's President 2
