3 | South East Asia Hotel Investors’ Summit • While we have a good number of OK, so far so good. But there are just so sponsors, and are very grateful for many hotel investment conferences – their support, we don’t encourage regional ones, specialist ones, even some them to bring armies of salespeople (at free ones. Why SEAHIS? Because, Berlin, for example, the big brands may we hope, it actually adds value with have over 50 attendees, most of them new ideas and insights and top-quality looking for deals). Indeed, hotel and networking with a senior group of serviced apartment owners constituted people in a relaxed environment which 50% of all attendees in 2018 and is conducive to discussions. Piyaporn Ann Michael Piro are by far the largest single group. Phanachet Indeed, over 2017 and 2018, an average of sixty companies which own hotels and/or serviced apartments came to SEAHIS each year. But don’t take our word for it. Here are some comments, which you can also see on our highlights video, from industry leaders in the region: ‘I think it’s nice to see a different demographic….it’s a nice mix and Tim Alpe Ranjit Batra what we see are a good bunch of owners, operators and investors.’ Dillip Rajakarier, CEO, Minor Hotels: ‘I will come back definitely and recommend to my friends’ Suchad Chiaranussati, CEO, SC Capital: ‘I love coming to this event every year …. always meet great people, new faces and old faces. A very enjoyable event.’ Prab Thakral, CEO, Boutique Group: Kevin Colket Gordon Drake ‘The format is fast paced, it’s irreverent and it attempts to explode industry myths and works on really having a focus at financial return on behalf of owners. Tony Ryan, Head of M&A, JLL Hotels: All are returning in 2019. 5 | South East Asia Hotel Investors’ Summit Why Bangkok? Bangkok is now the most visited city in the world, so it’s a logical place to host a hospitality investment summit. And people love coming – the Summit is on a Thursday and Friday, so it’s easy to add on a weekend afterwards. Bangkok is fun, combining legendary temples and palaces with amazing food, the famous Thai smiles and superb hotels. There are numerous Thai hotel companies active in the market, many of which are expanding throughout the world and Bangkok is also at the centre of the Mekong region, with rapidly expanding hospitality companies springing up in Vietnam, Laos, Cambodia and Myanmar. It’s easy to get to with excellent transport links throughout the region and, for those with a little time of their hands, a visit to the jungles of the north or the beaches of the south and east can add some colour and relaxation to the overall trip. 6 | South East Asia Hotel Investors’ Summit Networking SEAHIS offers multiple options for networking with speakers, sponsors and delegates: 1. Two Great Receptions On the evenings of both Thursday 16th and Friday 17th May, SEAHIS delegates will be treated to fabulous receptions. The first is generously hosted by the Westin Grande Sukhumvit at the conference hotel. Tina Yu Tony Ryan The second is kindly hosted by the brand new and spectacular Hyatt Regency Bangkok, just a few minutes’ walk away from the main conference hotel. Both of these hotels are owned by Grande Asset Hotels and Property Public Company Limited to whom we extend our deepest thanks for their support. 2. Lunches and coffee breaks We are aware that most delegates come to network and make contacts rather than simply to listen to the sessions (though we do believe SEAHIS’s sessions will be well worth attending). SEAHIS has two long networking lunches as well as plenty of tea and coffee breaks. Jake Stein Prab Thakral 3. Sponsors’ area The networking break area also has a dedicated section where you can meet the sponsors, discuss their services and the opportunities they have to offer. There are also plenty of seating areas around the hotel for impromptu chats. 4. Networking online There is a dedicated networking facility within the SEAHIS website, www.seahis.com allowing participants to connect with each other in advance of the summit and make arrangements to meet there. This is opened around two weeks before the Summit.
