Towards Truth and Reconciliation As we move towards reconciliation with the original peoples of this land, it is important for all of us to consider the history of what is now called Canada and how we have arrived at this moment in time. But we can’t achieve reconciliation without first acknowledging the land on which this theatre stands and its traditional keepers. We take this opportunity to do that now. The Royal Alexandra Theatre is located on the Treaty Lands and Territory of the Mississaugas of the Credit and the traditional territory of the Anishinaabe, the Wendat, and the Haudenosaunee. The territory is within the lands protected by the Dish With One Spoon Wampum Belt Covenant, an agreement between the Haudenosaunee and Anishinaabe and allied nations to peaceably share and care for the resources around the Great Lakes. Today, the meeting place of Toronto (also known as Tkaronto) is home to many Indigenous people from across Turtle Island. We are grateful to work on this land.
