TRANSFORMING LIVES ADIT Following a series of ill-fated events, single mom Adit and her two daughters found themselves suddenly homeless on the streets of Cincinnati. Having nowhere to turn, Adit and her girls found themselves at Bethany House. After a difficult journey, she is now proud to share her experiences with Bethany House, hoping that she may inspire others. “Bethany House took us in, fed us, made sure we had clothes, made sure my daughter was properly enrolled in school, and had everything she needed for school, including a laptop. They gave us bus cards, but more importantly, they encouraged us to become independent and self-sufficient. They encouraged us to eat healthy with nutrition classes, they made sure my daughter received a physical for school, and helped us in numerous ways. The staff at Bethany House helped me in every way they could. They extended every kindness, comfort, and help that they could give to us. I am so thankful to Bethany House; we would not have made it without them.” Adit KESHA It was Christmas Eve when ten-year-old Kesha’s mother left an abusive marriage. With nowhere to turn, Kesha, along with her mother and three siblings, walked to Bethany House where they found hope. That was thirty years ago. Now a college graduate and mother, Kesha recently sent her first donation to Bethany House, along with the following message: “I would like to Kesha (on the right), her mom and siblings. bless the families with this donation. us in, fed us, counseled my mother and provided a God blessed me place for us to call home, a furnished apartment. in so many ways Please accept this small token of appreciation. JAMIE After winning the fight against addiction, Jamie and her family found themselves facing homelessness. Empowered by Bethany House Services she was able to achieve stability in a home of her own. “I was addicted to drugs for 10-12 years of my life when I ended up pregnant with my daughter. I had to do something to get better. At that point I felt defeated; I was at my worst and just ready to give in. I went through treatment, and when I got out I was behind a few months’ rent, so I had to either come up with the money or find someplace else to go. As I was packing my things, I received a call telling me there was a place for us at Bethany House. I’m now clean for five years. I have a job where I get to work with others who are in a situation similar to mine. Everyone at Bethany House was really helpful, supportive and caring in my time of struggle. I was discouraged a lot; they were always encouraging me to keep taking one more step forward. Bethany House is an overall miracle for people who are struggling to get back on their feet. The place is amazing, the people are amazing, and I’m just really Jamie and her children. grateful for my time there.” THANK YOU, VOLUNTEERS! Even though we suspended our regular volunteer activity in March due to COVID-19, Bethany House was still blessed with 1,056 INDIVIDUALS who volunteered 8,857 HOURS during 2020. THANK YOU for preparing dinners, coordinating donation drives, helping with fundraisers or in the office, landscaping, serving on our board and committees and for supporting our mission.
