What does NARI membership mean to me as a homeowner? The goal of the National Association of the Remodeling Industry (NARI) is to help homeowners find the right professional partner to do their remodeling. Whether it is updating a kitchen to make it more efficient, turning an ordinary bathroom into a haven of rest and relaxation, or adding a room to meet the needs of a growing family, NARI wants each homeowner to get the maximum value or enjoyment for the dollars they invest in their remodeling. NARI membership means that a professional is a full-time, dedicated remodeling expert. NARI membership requires its members follow a strict Code of Ethics, and there is a grievance process that can be pursued when they do not. Homeowners can be assured that any time they hire a NARI member, they are hiring an individual who has made a strong commitment to the professionalism of the remodeling industry and to his or her business. NARI members have access to the latest information in the industry through publications, educational programs, educational seminars and conferences. You can use the Buyer’s Guide on page 52 of this magazine or the “Find a NARI Professional” tool at omahanari.org to find a NARI member to create your dream space. Omaha NARI Gives Back with Cares COMMUNITY SERVICE PROJECTS Omaha NARI believes in giving back to the community in which members live and work. Each year, the Omaha NARI chapter has community involvement where financial contributions and volunteer time is provided to many local organizations and charitable events in the Omaha Metro community. This past October, local members of the Omaha NARI chapter gathered materials and volunteers to provide facility updates for the South Omaha Victory Boxing Club, as part of their commitment to give back. The project involved installing mirrors and florescent lighting in all restrooms, construction and mounting of a twenty-eight-component storage unit for gloves and other equipment, installing new wiring and conduit for three new ceiling fans and replacing over twenty-five broken window panes. The following Omaha NARI Members donated materials and labor to the project: Bratetic Construction, Inc., Castle Glass LLC, Contractors Siding, Window & Roofing Supply, Completely Square, Echo Systems, Habitat for Humanity ReStore, Identity Marketing Group, KLP, Inc., Lowe’s Home Improvement of Papillion, OHARCO, Inc., Superior Home Improvement, LLC, Quinn Insurance, Inc. and Window Innovations. April 7 & 8, 2018 Welcome to the NARI Remodeled Home Tour On behalf of The National Association of the Remodeling Industry (NARI) and myself, I want to thank you for looking through all the companies advertising within the magazine and hosting projects on the tours. I know your time is valuable and a lot of it went into the design of the ads. Without the support of our sponsors this magazine would not be possible, so a big thank you goes to all of you as well. There is a lot that goes into being a member of NARI. All our members are held to a strict code of ethics. We keep requirements such as proper insurance and licensing. We keep a healthy sense of competitions with every contractor and even though we are competitors, we develop friendships every year. David Benson PRESIDENT Our members should be rightfully proud for what they do day to day. They exceed customers’ expectations with design, development and commitment to quality, on every project. No matter the size of your project, be sure to take the time and visit with these amazing contractors. Ask questions regarding their project from start to finish and be inspired for your next project. Nothing says thank you more to the contractors, then having clients open their homes for the weekend. It means the world to a contractor to be recognized for all their hard work. Thank you for allowing all of us to tour your home. To all the members, please take advantage of this magazine to showcase your projects. You should be proud of what you do every day and the best way to show off your skills, is to advertise. It does not have to be a full tour, but consider the benefits an advertisement could give your business. Excel in everything you do and I look forward to an exciting 2018. 2 SUPERIOR HOME IMPROVEMENT, LLC 2005 Cumberland Court Before We have been working with this couple for a few years now. We remodeled their bathrooms and added an all season room to the back of the house. We were ecstatic when they reached out to us to remodel their kitchen. Our clients decided it was time to open up their kitchen and create a welcoming country home feel. We started the project by removing everything in the existing kitchen, down to the studs. We removed a wall that was separating the kitchen from the dining room and added a pocket door to their laundry room. Once we had the clean slate, we were able to create their dream kitchen. We ran new electrical to allow in cabinet lighting and under cabinet lighting. Once the drywall was completed, we highlighted their amazing dishware in a few of the new upper white cabinets, with glass doors and accented lighting. By removing the wall between the kitchen and dining room, it gave space for a large island. Our clients are consistent bakers and love the extra quartz countertop. We are also able to incorporate a nice desk area off the kitchen cabinets for a much needed working space. Beautiful tile was integrated into the kitchen flooring, backsplash and garden window ledge. After the finishing touches and new appliances were put into place, our clients were able to enjoy the benefits of their new open kitchen. 18 | 2018 OMAHA REMODELED PHOTOS BY THOMAS GRADY PHOTOGRAPHY

Richly stained tobacco-colored island and buffet cabinetry creates visual warmth against the bright, crisp white painted cabinetry and trim. Quartz countertops simulate the natural beauty of soapstone and marble materials, yet remain durable for the high-use kitchen surfaces. A custom mosaic tile accent and decorative lighting complete the transformation. NARI TRADE PROFESSIONALS: Builders Supply Co., Inc. C & H Construction Ferguson Enterprises, Inc. 5 GITT CONSTRUCTION INC. 1532 S 189th Court This customer purchased this house to be closer to her daughter and grandchild when she’s visiting Omaha. She entrusted Gitt Construction Inc. services to create a spacious timeless feel for her Omaha home away from home. Mike Gitt and his team got right to work upgrading the master bathroom, main bath, entryway, and floors throughout the main level. The entryway consists of custom patterned natural Slate tile, a dark stained Therma Tru entry door, and elegant lighting and fixtures to enhance the space. Creamy white cabinets with brushed brass hardware and custom butcher block counters made the kitchen warm and welcoming. The upgraded living room fireplace surround and coordinating rich wood flooring throughout, tied the spaces together. In the basement, the flooring was upgraded with rich-toned Cali Bamboo and an updated fireplace surround. New countertops and fixtures in the kitchenette finished off the classic look and feel of the space. 28 | 2018 OMAHA REMODELED PHOTOS BY THOMAS GRADY PHOTOGRAPHY

6 HC Remodel & Design 855 S 156th Avenue This project began with the desire for a pantry and more functionality in the kitchen. The homeowners needed a space that felt light and contemporary for entertaining and was also highly functional, putting everything needed to prepare a meal within their reach. Light-gray maple cabinets were chosen to give light and warmth to the kitchen. The black island adds a dramatic contrast, which ties in aesthetically with the fireplace built-ins of the family room. Glazed subway tile adds a modern detail to the updated kitchen. And finally, addressing the first concern, the idle desk was replaced with a floor-to-ceiling pantry for the extra storage space they needed. In the family room, the traditional brick fireplace and oak cabinets were removed for the update. Wild Horse stone was chosen to surround the new fireplace, and a reclaimed wood beam used for the mantle. Classic black cabinetry and floating shelves on both sides of the fireplace give the family room a fresh, modern feel. The homeowners decided to complete the project with a powder bath facelift. The main elements of the room were in good condition, so scraping the popcorn ceiling and adding classic wallpaper was enough to give this powder bath an updated, yet classic, quality. The homeowners did expect the job to be done as they wanted, but what they didn’t expect was how Gary handles the process of a remodel. One of his top priorities is to keep the homeowner’s house clean and livable during all remodeling projects. In this case, he was able to hook up a temporary sink area in the basement for use while their kitchen was being transformed. In addition to dust protection sheets, HC Remodel & Design uses Build CleanTM Dust Control Systems during the remodeling process to prevent dust from ruining electronics and keeping the home safe for children and pets. Our attention to their living space during the remodeling process removed a lot of the stress that usually comes with major home renovations. We care about the people we work with and we care about making your home a place you love to live. 30 | 2018 OMAHA REMODELED

7 HINTZ CONSTRUCTION INC. 2705 N 189th Street The homeowners were looking to finish their basement and desired PHOTOS BY THOMAS GRADY PHOTOGRAPHY a personal design that would showcase their family heirlooms. Josh spent time with the clients and developed ways to implement personal touches from their family farm into the design and finish of their basement. The fireplace mantle was created from a walnut tree that was planted on the family farm in the early 1900’s. Hintz Construction also used this walnut to create custom floating shelves with an accent strip light cut into the shelf. The clients were ecstatic to be able to incorporate this 20-year-old tree from their family farm. The barn door was made from a chicken coop from the farm that was built around 1910-1920. Hintz Construction collaborated with the client to customize this door, as it would have to be enlarged to fit the space properly. The accent wall that showcases many of the client’s family heirlooms and pictures was also taken from the family farm. Hintz Construction used these pieces of wood to create a custom wall to display their favorite pieces. The trim around the door was also removed from one of the client’s great uncles farm house. The hardware used on this door was a 100-year-old as well. After completing the basement remodel, the clients wanted Hintz Construction to create a more custom master bathroom and closet. Josh worked with the clients to remove a guest bedroom and expand the master suite and closet into this space. The clients were looking for a more modern retreat in this space and this was obtained with the selections the client made. Josh worked with the client to create a better flow in the master bathroom and create a larger and custom shower. By removing the guest bedroom, the clients were also able to achieve a larger and more functional master closet as well. 34 | 2018 OMAHA REMODELED

8 HIGHROCK DESIGN • BUILD • REMODEL 2616 N 161st Terrace Before Two young professionals with a growing family were looking for a space that would be great for entertaining and the ability to grow their family. Top of their wish list in a home was an open concept and a large island for family time and entertaining guests. When this home was purchased, neither of those requirements were present. Highrock Design.Build.Remodel showed the homeowners that this was a very achievable dream. The first hurdle for this project was removing a load bearing wall that separated the kitchen and living room. After a 1800lb beam was added to the main floor, the project was on its way. Highrock Design. Build.Remodel completely demoed the kitchen, reconfigured the layout and ensured there was a large island to complete the client’s wish list. To add some custom touches Highrock Design.Build.Remodel added a subtle yet impactful ceiling detail in the living room. They also refaced the fireplace and added custom cabinets around the fireplace. Other finishing touches included LED lighting, smart thermostat, solar attic fans for energy savings and automated blinds for comfort and convenience. Highrock Design.Build.Remodel was able to achieve all of the homeowner’s wish list and complete it with the modern design trends of the grays throughout, white kitchen cabinets, a gray island, darker doors, wall paper in the powder bath and rich wood flooring throughout. “The home turned out even better than we could have ever expected. We are constantly complemented on how beautiful our home is while still being a practical space with exceptional flow,” said Megan, the homeowner. 36 | 2018 OMAHA REMODELED PHOTOS BY THOMAS GRADY PHOTOGRAPHY
