Kansas
Our defini on of crema on states: “Crema on means the mechanical and/or other dissolu on process that reduces human remains to bone fragments. Crema on includes
the processing and usually includes the pulveriza on of the bone fragments.” That being said, we do not have any laws that specify requirements for the licensure of alkaline
hydrolysis or promession.
Nevada
Anyone physically opera ng the crematory equipment must complete a Board approved training which is at least six (6) hours in length; is offered on a na onal level by
persons who are generally recognized as having exper se in the field of crematory services and includes at a minimum, instruc on in best prac ces rela ng to crematory
services, terminology relevant to crematory services; the principles of combus on, the opera on of crematory equipment, and the filing of forms and other du es concerning
keeping a record rela ng to crematory services.
New Mexico
The New Mexico Board of Funeral Services passed legisla on (effec ve June 30, 2019) to allow dual licenses (arranger/embalmer). Suppor ng rules were not implemented at
print date.
Wisconsin
To be eligible for an original funeral director’s license, an applicant must complete a one year appren ceship, two years of academic instruc on in a recognized college or
university in a course of study approved by the examining board (60 credits in English, Speech, Social Sciences, Natural Sciences, Business, and Elec ves), or equivalent
educa on, and nine months or more instruc on in a prescribed course in mortuary science approved by the ABFSE. The two years of academic instruc on, nine month
mortuary science program, and appren ceship may be completed in any order following comple on of a mandatory 16 hour cer fica on course. Further informa on can be
